  1. Only came here for drinks.

Really cute new spot in BK.

Great place to come if it is rainy or cloudy….has indoor seating but with plenty of windows.  Gotta love some natural light!

Had some sort of spicy margarita…it was delicious….so then I had too many and got drunk.   The End.

  2. Okay, the place itself is cute and the food is *delicious* which is why I gave them the 2 stars.
The prices are absurd. We got one of the really cool sounding pitchers of watermelon-something-or-other cocktail and yes it was yummy but for $48 it was basically just a huuuuuge clump of ice, with a cup of watermelon juice mixed with a bit of other yummy things and booze, but really just mostly ice.
It's really a shame, too, because the beer is so reasonably priced and decent and the live music was really cute. We didn't stay late enough to see the DJ but they were setting up, which sounds kind of fun and cool. The absurdity of the pitcher was enough to make me not recommend it to anyone.
They also charged us $3 extra for cheese on our burgers without asking/telling us. the burgers came to $19 each before tax, which is total craziness. But, with that said, they were excellent. We each got the truffle burger, it was bloody good, but damn, did we pay for it. The potatoes it comes with were almost as good as the burger itself.
Very good, but only go if you have extra cash you want to get rid of (and if that's the case, call me, maybe?)

  3. Diviera is a pretty cool room but I think they still have a few things to work out.  Service was a little rough on our visit (the place was pretty new) with the waitress misplacing our order and being confused about the items on the menu.  I also found the beer selection to be quite small.

When our food did finally arrive, it was pretty tasty though, the highlight being the eggplant parm bites.  The marghertia pizza was pretty average and a little overpriced for the size.  The carbonara on the other hand was well priced for the size.

Overall, I'm pretty close to pushing this to a 4.  Hopefully the service has worked out its kinks by now.

  4. "A-OK" is a good way to describe Diviera Drive. I ended up here with two friends on Labor Day for dinner after walking a few blocks looking for somewhere to eat.

I really just wanted to be outside so I was sold after noticing they had outdoor seating in the front. There was gravel on the ground with lounge chairs and umbrellas and a big fence with graffiti in the front. I can't decide if the whole set up was cool looking or cheesy looking.

Anyways, the menu was a bit limited, clearly trying to be trendy. I got a burger mostly because I didn't know what else to get. It was presented very, very nicely with potatoes on the side. The caramelized onions on my burger were thin and burnt to a crisp. Flavor-wise it was still okay but just odd in my opinion. I'm not sure if they did that on purpose or not. I ate like half the burger and potatoes.

My friend (who has been here before) had the margherita pizza. Everything about that was okay. You really can't go wrong with pizza in Brooklyn.

My other friend who wasn't hungry got a bowl of olives which she was happy with.

My favorite part of the evening was the meat and cheese board. Either $6 each or $18 for 3. The serving size for each was a lot bigger compared to what I've seen at wine bars. (This is obviously a good thing). We tried the prosciutto di parma, la tur, and pecorino toscano. I also really liked that the board came with soft bread. So good.

Now I didn't experience this myself, but my friend that's been here before mentioned that they don't serve alcohol in appropriate glassware which I would imagine gets very annoying. For example, wine is served in the same glass as water which obviously affects the taste of the wine. Maybe it's a hipster Brooklyn thing? That being said, I wouldn't order wine.

I don't know if I'd return by choice but if I do find myself here again, I'll get a meat and cheese board.

  5. Food was average, simple and pricey for what you get.
Service is extremely slow even it was not crowded.

  6. The biggest selling point on this place is their spacious patio and the fact that the restaurant is a converted mechanic, or garage, or something. After a couple of visits I decided that the best way to enjoy these things is to just come for a couple of beers or a wine, because their food has been pretty disappointing so far, as has the service.

I've tried several brunch and lunch dishes, and I thought the granola was yummy. Other than that I was let down by everything else. The worst in my opinion was my last order, which was the roasted chicken sandwich on focaccia. They have some sad, gray chopped up chicken swimming in way too much aioli between two oily pieces of bread. I actually love focaccia but I ended up leaving most of it on the plate as it was just drenched in mayo and not tasty at all. The eggs any way dish comes with like 5 big pieces of potato and a generic spring mix salad. And I've also gotten the eggplant parm bites which were tastier in a more junk food-y way, but were really really salty.

More than anything I'm confused about what the concept is here – are they trying to do brunch? Italian? The menu is all over the place and honestly seems thrown together. Looks like their pizzas seem to be well received but honestly there are so many good pizzerias in town that I don't know if I'd be willing to give it a shot there.

The service is perfectly professional but with no hint of friendliness. That's fine, they're not paid to be my buddies but a smile is always a nice thing to have with brunch. That being said, everything came out correctly and they filled our water a lot, so no huge complaints on that front.

I'm definitely not going to let this big patio with its plentiful picnic tables go to waste, especially now that Crown Vic is closed and I'm on the hunt for more spacious outdoor options. But as for the food, I've struck out every time so I'm planning to avoid.

  7. A great space in Williamsburg with candlelit, indoor dining that opens into an enclosed greenhouse adorned with all kinds of seating welcoming groups or just the two of you. Lots of foliage and plenty of windows which invites you into a casual, yet intimate space.

Not stuffy, yet classic Brooklyn-feels. A large ship is just chillin in the outside/backyard area along with some other fun decorations making the place seem like it could be a solid party spot. My friend mentioned she attended a birthday party here with strippers dancing on tables – SOLD.

But a trendy, low-key atmosphere won't justify a place for me unless food, service, and drink match. And here's the fault that distracts from the cool vibes that Diviera Drive has:

Only two beers on draft, one being on the hoppy side which I don't like.

Gourmet pizzas that, yes, taste good, but are overpriced – like every other NYC wood-oven pizza joint. And they only have one pizza oven so if you have a few people ordering pizzas at the same time, they won't come out together, but they do warn you of this prior to ordering which is the right thing to do. But I'm kind of over the whole "our food is so good that you don't need condiments and how dare you ask" vibe. If my friend wants a side of ranch (and if you have it somewhere in the back) please don't make a fuss about it while pretending to be slightly taken aback that she asked. come off it…

And finally, the mushroom ravioli, which would have been really well done if not for the medicinal taste of some ingredient that threw off the entire dish. I was looking forward to this dish the most but really was glad I was also sharing a pizza because I would've been very disappointed if I had just ordered this for my dinner.

So what to think. Here we have a great space with decently well-done food, but there were a few bumps in the road regarding food execution. And then we have our very attentive server making sure our drinks were full and we were enjoying ourselves (and he easily could've been a male model, so that's always an added bonus).

I want to try this place again and see how I feel after giving it a second chance. Good thing is, the staff was really exceptional which is always appreciated. I think sampling the menu and maybe trying brunch or even coming here in warmer weather will win me over.
