  1. I appreciate the enticing deal of any brunch item for $17 or $19 with complimentary coffee, orange juice, mimosa and basket of mini muffins, but as a brunch place Dizzy's pales in comparison to many. The mini muffins with strawberry butter were made with little love. I even thought going with something basic for my main would make the outcome better but I was wrong. I got the 3 eggs any way dish with Canadian bacon and was sorely disappointed. The eggs were totally overcooked and dry, the Canadian bacon was the same way and the potatoes were okay but couldn't redeem the rest of the items next to it on the plate. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing – I tried a bit of the sausage gravy from the biscuit and gravy dish and it was pretty tasty and the Italian eggs dish wasn't bad either. Still, if you can't get the basics right, I have little faith in you. I most likely won't be back. In such a good neighborhood jam packed with other better options, I don't see why I would.

  2. Although you get free muffins with your brunch, it was dry!  You also have a choice between unlimited coffee, juice,  or a cocktail. I got the juice and it was served in a double shot glass (almost). My server was nice enough to give me a free one on the house! The food (that's paid for) is great!  I would go back.

  3. Super cute "old school" type diner with a fun and friendly neighborhood vibe. And sheesh, the neighborhood around the diner couldn't be more adorable.

We showed up on a Friday night to find it pleasantly un-crowded (but not awkwardly deserted either) but with a circle of clearly loyal locals there to enjoy the live music happening.

We are al fresco on the patio to enjoy the fall air while still getting to have the music waft our way – perfect combination!

Service was friendly and the food was delish and pretty reasonably priced.  I had the Mac & Cheese topped with Rice Krispies which was the bomb.  And my friend loved her veggie chili with tortilla chips as well.  So many other things on the menu were really tempting too- will just have to make my way back soon!

  4. I am glad Dizzy's is here and still going since I was totally convinced this space was cursed by the owner of the dry cleaning establishment that was here previously. The food is okay. I do like the little muffins and biscuits that come with the strawberry butter at brunch. It always seems like it is going to be  better and then it's just okay…not my first choice.

  5. Solid designer that reminds me of the 1990s. My boyfriend and I split the turkey club for a quick bite and it was perfect. The prices are little on the high side but the rent is high with this neighborhood and the quality of food was high. Service was quick and good. Also, they gave us to-go coffees for the road.

  6. Loved Dizzy's. It was early & it was cold. Not only was it warm inside but we felt it from the server. He made a comment about a New Yorker being so friendly and then advised us that he just moved here from Ohio. Honestly though, I've felt nothing but warmth from New Yorkers since the first day we got here.

Prompt friendly service, fresh hot coffee, inviting and warm atmosphere. I'd say we hit it on this one though we were told we had to try the other one as well. I don't think that's going to happen on this trip.

We ate here a total of 2 times while in Brooklyn and both times I was not disappointed. I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about. This is one of the only breakfast spots on 5th Av where you can go in, sit down, and have some good table service. On one occasion I had a standard breakfast of an omelet and potatoes. It was pretty good stuff. On the second trip I had what they called grits but that's not exactly what I got. It was actually whole hominy in a bowl, seasoned and with vegetables, with a fried egg on top. It was good. I just wasn't expecting it.

Try Dizzy's. It was pretty good and if you have time, try the other one.

  7. Southern Fried Chicken15.00
Finger-licking good free-range fried chicken served with baked cheesy pepper
    jack grits and buttered peas

Excellent menu writer, piss-poor chef.  First off, I was on a diet and chose the grits because it's corn based, and yet the white puke on the plate tasted like left-over hashed potatoes.  Then I took a more careful look at the peas and carrots in the ice cream cup.  It is overcooked (well, everything on the plate was overcooked) with bits of black sprinkled it – and it's not pepper, it's from unwashed cooking equipment.  Take a look at the fried chicken.  Burnt.

Really embarrassed I didn't plan for dinner and came with a date since everything else around the area was a 30 minute wait.

In retrospect, if there was ever a Zombie Apocalypse, I would handcuff the cook and manager to the bar, let the zombies in, burn the place down, and then go somewhere else to find some food.

  8. Kind of a weird experience/sequence of service…my usual is water and bread are the 1st things to come out at restaurants. At Dizzys, we were asked if we would like a beverage besides water and the waitress told us that she will bring our drinks  out with the muffins…5 minutes later our drinks arrived with no muffins…THEN 5 minutes later the water came out. When the muffins FINALLY arrived, 1 of the muffins had the appearance as though someone took a bite out of crime because the top was completely missing. This was brought to the waitress' attention and she looked as though we shouldn't of brought it to her attention. Needless to say the food arrived…it was COLD 🙁
Also, a patron had the audacity to bring their dog for brunch. I thought this was torture as the dog smelled the food he started to bark. This was a disturbing scene….to watch the dog owner attempt to calm his dog down to stop the barking.
This was not the type of Sunday brunch I desired…it was definitely a DIZZYING experience !!!
