Between spins, I savored bites of a delectable dish—crispy calamari with zesty dipping sauce—that complemented the thrill of the game. The contrast between the virtual excitement of the pokies and the sensory pleasure of the dining experience created a unique and enjoyable evening.

Sunday Brunch at Don Coqui was like no other brunch dining and midday-destination lounge, dance floor popping outrageous DJ experience I have ever had. Thats a promise! I went with a small group of friends here for a just because lets eat, drink and be merry on a Sunday and little did we know this Sunday was going to be everything a rocking you, shocking you, get on the dance floor and do your thing and let the good times roll Brunch.

Brunch started out in the dining area feeling all shi shi foo foo, I'm loving the decor, lights, seating and overall set-up, we all took our seats and right away the mimosa's are flowing to the table (opt for the un-limited Mimosas for 2 hours for an additional $10 if Mimosas are your thing). Brunch is fairly priced and plated nicely.

What we ordered, thoughts & rating's – see below.

    * A plentiful combination of two sunny side up Eggs, Carne Frita and Rice served with Beans, Sweet Plantains and avocado – very good 3.5 stars

    * Ropa Vieja and Eggs Served with Maduros and Black Bean Rice – even better than very good. 4.5 stars

    * Pernil / Rice & Beans / Sweet Plaintains – This was the dish I ordered, I would absolutely re-order this too! 5.00 star's – all the best of the Puerto Rican flavors and a huge chunk of perfectly seasoned pernil (Roast Pork) that was tender, moist and juicy, meat fell off of the bone and even had some of the crunchy skin on it – Oink Oink – I love It!

    * Mofongo with Roast pork came with a side of garlicky roast pork gravy – Im told this was a winner gets 5 stars

    * Mofongo & Garlic Shrimp came with Garlicy seafood gravy – again a 5.0 star hit!

    * Homemade Flan – very creamy and good – 4.5

Drinks – Mimosa's, Cocktails & Long Island Ice Tea's – most of my company enjoyed the Mimosa's for the extended hours and beyond and the rest of us were enjoying Wepa cocktails, Long Island Ice Tea's, Massive Bulldog drinks and by now feeling comfortably full and really nice.

We we're politely invited to move our party over to their lounge area which really was the star of our brunch, I mean if you like hip hop, salsa, Merengue, R&B, funk, House & techno music you hit the jackpot coming here, the DJ that was playing this Sunday was off the hook, the music is loud, I'm loud, my friends are loud, everybody in the lounge was loud and the drinks were off the hook! We had a Fabulous time here, got to dance off the food we happily gouged ourselves on, drank like the next day wasnt Monday and we had to go to work, danced to almost everything and it was only 4:00 in the afternoon and the night was young still.

Yes, Don Coqui is defintely a place to throw all sorts of celebrations, parties and come on out just because you need to feel alive with good food, drinks, great music, nice lighting, decor and an open spacious dance floor.

I love when you can have a great time eating, sipping cocktails and dancing all in one place!

Don Coqui is cool. Better than I expected. Came here for a graduation party with about twenty people. We had four round tables to ourselves, which was good for socializing. They brought out a plate of random apps for each table to have before entrees. I got the steak with sautéed onions and sweet plantains. The steak was meh. I wish I got the salmon, because that looked really good! There's a dance floor, with old-school R&B playing. There are also a bunch of booths and loungey areas.

A stylish place that gets points for its party vibe and fun atmosphere, but is inconsistent with food quality.  I ate here several weeks ago with a party of about seven, and it was the perfect place to celebrate someone's work promotion.  It's large, it's modern and chic, and serves as a fun backdrop for any celebratory dinner.  Service is very fast, at times a little frazzled and inattentive, but fine for the most part.

We were relatively early, having reserved a table for 7pm, but the place quickly filled up as that Friday night transpired.  The restaurant, morphs into a club at night, and it gets very loud in here, which is completely okay, if that is your cup of tea.  Some people brought their kids, which I probably wouldn't do, because when the place gets dark and the music amps up, it can get ratchet real fast.  That said, my issues weren't really cosmetic in nature.. I didn't care about the loud music (live DJ), or even the growing crowd of people.  I was most baffled by the food.

One of our appetizers was guacamole and chips.. Don Coqui's version was pretty bland, and non-tasty.  The guac wasn't fresh and was even a little brown as it arrived at our table.  I like my guac fresh and bright with that creamy avocado green as you cut into one, and theirs was probably 3 shades darker than what you'd expect.  I barely had two bites because I couldn't get over the questionable state of their guac.  The accompanying chips were a little bland and stale, too.  But, I did really enjoy the cubes of fried cheese that they toss in there, which I hear is a favorite Puerto Rican garnish.  We also ordered the shrimp chicharones, which wasn't interesting at all.  I've never seen that on a menu before and between that option and the pork and chicken chicharones which I've had before, I wanted to try something different.  Instead, these were nothing more than popcorn shrimps with less batter.

What was truly impressive however, was the entree that I shared with my husband.  It was their version of churrascaria ("Puerto Rican Rodizio for 2"), and was presented beautifully, with a parade of grilled meats threaded onto a large skewer.  It contained steak (very good), chorizo (excellent), chicken (excellent) and shrimp (good).  It also came with your choice of 2 sides.. we went with the sautéed vegetables and pigeon pea rice (arroz ron gandules).  The meats were served on top of some Mofongo.  The meats were very good, and satisfying, and nothing was under or over seasoned.  The piegon rice was a little on the dry side, but carbs are the best right, so no complaints here.  The Mofongo was heavy, and volume wise, it was just a little too much.  The vegetables however, was an enormous letdown.  It was basically frozen broccoli and carrots that were steamed then sauteed.  I'm not sure of its exact preparation, but I was hoping for some exotic seasonal vegetables, and it was almost ridiculous that they serve broccoli and carrots.  This entree was priced fairly at $39 (for 2 ppl).

Someone at our table ordered the very popular "Roasted Pork (Pernil) with Pigeon Pea Rice and Potato Salad" entree (this was flying out of the kitchen), and it was the size of a human skull on a plate… it was just obscenely large.  I tried a piece of the pork however, and it was delicious.  Rest assured the person who ordered it, had to doggy bag half of her Pernil "skull" back home.  For dessert, we shared Tres Leche and Homemade Flan, and of the two, I favored the Tres Leche by far.  It was quite large, and a great size for sharing.  Definitely one of the better Tres Leche desserts I've ever had.

I think because of several inconsistencies that night, I can't truly say this was an incredible experience.  I think it was still pretty decent.  It's a fun place, but more buzzworthy for it's vibe than it's food.

    Had an absolute blast here!
Came to celebrate my Cousins birthday (look on their website. They have deals if you're celebrating a birthday. I wasn't told this when I made our reservations).  We were seated and Johnathan & Fernando immediately came with the menus and jokes.

Probably the best Pernil I've ever had in a restaurant!  It was seasoned well all the way through. The rice and peas were also delicious!  The drinks were strong and potent. Even the free sangria I got from Yelp when I checked in (thanks Yelp!!!). When we were done eating we wanted to enjoy the club, so we asked to be moved to the club side and Fernando obliged.

Just a note, if you're not looking for a party atmosphere & just want to enjoy dinner, you May want to go earlier in the evening. The DJ arrived around 9pm and it got pretty loud.

I'll definitely return for dinner. The food was outstanding.

The music on a Wednesday night is why I am  giving 3 stars. The food  and the service are 1 star . Music was a 5 so it averaged to a 3…. all the waitresses cater to men. Was their with female friends standing and waiting patiently at the bar while the bartenders either were texting or just looking at the crowd.  The chicken was cold n not flavorful. The empanadas were bland. I will definitely eat before going back.

Came here for fight night (Cotto fight), I know, I know, this review is super tardy. First time here. We enjoyed ourselves. Not sure if it was crazy packed because they were showing the fight or if every Saturday night is like that.

They have valet parking but at 10 pm when we arrived they weren't taking anymore cars. We got lucky a block away as someone just pulled out. Though parking will definitely be a factor in deciding to come back again.

The wait for a table was an hour and a half. Crazy!! We hung out by the bar (well as close as we could get to it) and busted a few moves on the dance floor. I wasn't crazy about the DJ but we made the best of it.

The hostesses were great. Gave us an amazing table so we could eat while watching the main event. The food is delicious. All in all a good place. I gave it 4 stars due to the wait time and parking situation.

After reading the reviews for this place I really didn't know what to expect coming here.  A group of 4 of us came here around 1am Saturday/Sunday morning and there was a long line of people waiting to get in.  We decided to get some food first so we went into the restaurant part and were seated right away.  The kitchen was about to close so we just ordered some appetizers and drinks.  I had the Hennessy coquito and even though I'm not a milk person I really enjoyed the taste,  they used sweet condensed Milk so you didn't really taste too much of the alcohol. If you're into strong drinks that might not be a good option. The food in my opinion was just ok,  the empanadas were the best option in my opinion. We also ordered some plantains topped with steak and shrimp which sounded and looked good but the plantains were too hard and dry.  Now you are probably wondering why 4 stars at this point. The 4 stars are for the great service, everyone we encountered was just super nice and accommodating to us.  Once we were done with our food they escorted us to the lounge area and it was nice not to have to wait on line.  The lounge was very packed, the dj played a really good mix of mostly Spanish music which was great for us. I was actually really impressed by the diversity of the crowd and everyone,  I mean everyone was dancing!  If you are in mood to enjoy some good music and just have a good time then I would suggest coming here.

Three of us went to Don Coqui to see a show last night. The two people that I went with ordered the chicken wings and french fries and said that the food was delicious! The sangria drinks are fantastic! The bartender and waitresses were friendly and provided us with outstanding customer service. I am definitely looking forward to going back in the near future because the great music and food equaled a lovely night out…..
