Don Filippo Restaurant

“There are so many places in Upper East Side where I couldn't even finish slice(s) because of the crappy quality (I know it sounds snobby and wasteful – it left me feeling uneasy each time).”

“PS – to all you lushs out there – this is not your late-night drunk pizza joint.”

“The balance of cheese, sauce and high quality toppings is ideal.”

  1. Terrific pizza here! I love the way they just pile chicken, veggies, sausage, whatever on top of the pizza. You need two hands to eat it! Lunch rush is tough here, it takes a little while to get your slice, it's cramped and hard to move past the line and the seating area fills up fast.  If it's a hot day out, it'll be three times as hot in the restaurant. They don't seem to have AC running in there. Guys at the front are nice and friendly and you can sit down and order from a menu too. Overall, it's a good place to grab some lunch.

  2. Like everyone else, we came here after the MET. I really wish we held out for pastrami queen/ 2nd Ave deli … But we didn't, so I'll deal.
There pizza looked fairly good, but we got sandwiches because that's what we were craving. Meatball sub & chicken pram. Man was this a lot of food. Not enough marinara sauce, but they brought some to our table when we asked.
It's cute that they have seating in the back, but there was nothing special about this place.

  3. If you're looking for a cheap lunch around the expensive upper east side, look no further than Don Filippo.  Normal $3 slice of pizza and the usual things at a pizzeria.  This beats the cardboard thin Farinella across the street.

  4. Cheap pizza that ended up giving me some acid.  Oily and "meh"

Better to hit up Lunetta Pizza over on 3rd for a better slice

  5. I eat here quite regularly solely out of convenience but Im not complaining. Ive tried a few different slices and plain is always my favorite here. The chicken roll is a must try- with sauce on the side! Their house sauce is one of the best Ive ever had; not too sweet and not over powered by herbs. Im usually always in a rush when I come here so I love their little paninis that are the perfect little snack. Its basically a garlic knot with a chicken cutlet and some cheese… its simple but very well put together. They also have the sun dried tomato and basil panini which Im also a fan of.

    Three Stars

This small pizza parlor and restaurant smelled great from the street so I popped in for a pepperoni square ($3.95). The crust was golden brown. As for texture the bottom had a bit of snap and middle had some chew. The minimal sauce was deeply cooked with a lots of seasoning. The mozzarella slice was elastic and came right off with the first bite. The pepperoni was greasy good, thin, and well done. The fresh herbs were uneven and slightly burnt.

They definitely have some regulars, one of which said they had the best pizza in the UES. They have a couple booths to sit in the back.

  7. One of the best pizzas ever.  My coworkers and I always order from this place when we're too busy at work to go get lunch and it doesn't disappoint.  My personal favorite is the chicken and tomato slice, which will set you back about $4.50, but it's worth it.  I'll definitely be coming back to try the baked ziti with meatballs too.

  8. So this was a good slice of Pizza for sure. I have had a few better ones but I have also has worse ones and I give this one 4 stars.  They were VERY friendly and also were quick to take my order heat up the pizza to a nice warm temp and then thanked me at the end.

Overall if you want a slice this is a good place, i cannot speak to the other food, i am sure it is good but I had the pizza slice.
