  1. This is kind of hidden… Found it through Yelp, yay! Went with my parents and boyfriend and everyone liked their food. As mentioned in other reviews, the place is very clean and the waitresses are extremely attentive.   If you get absolutely nothing else you MUST get the guacamole and tostones. Seriously. Go in there and get just that and a drink. Incredible.
We started with that and shrimp ceviche. My parents who don't really like anything other than Portuguese food were extremely impressed. I got a salad and black bean soup. I triple checked that there was absolutely NO meat in the black bean soup but when it came out there was a poached egg in the middle!!! I have never, ever seen an egg in black bean soup so I asked to send it back, to make it vegan. The waitress didn't seem totally thrilled but they brought out a new one, a heaping portion and that was great and delicious. Everyone else got enchiladas, grilled chicken, and chicken in tomatoes. The portions are large and we were really pleased with everything.
It should be noted that the food DOES take awhile to come out but it looked like the kitchen was small and only a couple of cooks. Also, you could really tell every single part of our meal was made on the spot and fresh. No frozen or premade food.
So why not the five stars? IT was small, did take awhile, there was only off street parking, some of the dishes were a bit pricey… but it was still great and highly recommend.

  2. After reading the reviews I expected a hole in the wall, but this place probably has the same vibe as other Hispanic restaurants that are more low key.

Arroz con Camarones: tasty and came with 9 shrimp & fries
Tacos Lengua (comes with 3): guess them running out of the bbq tacos was a good thing because I got this instead and it was delicious; first day it was being served; comes with a tart & spicy green sauce and a sauteed hot chili pepper? (it was good but stay away from the seeds if you don't like it hot)
Guacamole con Tostones: very good & the guac had a slight kick; tostones should be eaten when warm
Rigua con Crema: not what I expected – thought it would be more of a corn fritter

One of the items also came with a refreshing side salad and vinaigrette dressing.  A few items came with cucumber and radish slices.  A very reasonably priced restaurant with friendly service, nice portions and good food.

  3. My wife and I decided to try this place after work one evening and WHOA!!!!! What a great find!

It isn't fancy and doesn't serve alcohol but you're welcomed to bring your choice of beverage to have with dinner.

    We ordered the following:

Tostones & Guacamole & Grilled Chicken Enchiladas (with raspberry sauce drizzled on top) it even came with a side of refried beans and yellow rice! – DELISIOSO!!!

In total, we paid about $30 – not bad at all!

We would definitely swing by again. Thanks Don Juan!!

  4. Well, I wish I took that extra year of Spanish class. This place has great food, but there was a bit of a language barrier. However, you can get by if you don't speak Spanish.

This place is a hidden gem with great authentic food.  The menu was an eclectic mix of Latin foods, not just Mexican.  I ordered the BBQ Pork tacos (listed on the chalkboard) and they were the one of the best tacos I've ever had. Tasted fresh, the shredded pork had tons of flavor and the side of the spicy aji just topped it off. My girlfriend ordered the fajita, which did not come out on a sizzling plate like your favorite Mexican chain, BUT it was just as a good. We ordered the tostones with guacamole, but got guacamole with chips. Yea, that extra year would have helped. This is clearly a family operated business and felt that I went over my friend Carlos's house for dinner.

I would recommend coming here with a friend that speaks the language, but if you are feeling adventurous, try it out! Also, there was a mixed crowd of patrons so don't feel shy. Booze up with your own beer or wine – it's BYOB.

    4 – stars on food
    3 – stars on service
Average of 3.5 stars, but I will round it up to 4 stars since its a local business.

  5. Absolutely amazing, this is the real deal when it comes to Mexican food.

A must try is the fried plantains paired with the smashed black beans. Absolutely amazing.

Tacos were great as were the margaritas. Make it a point to stop by!

  6. You had me at Salvi restaurant, but that's where it ended.

Don't get me wrong, this place is pretty decent but for sure at decent the most. This restaurant is at a corner spot that looks cute and then you walk in and half the restaurant is getting natural sunlight and the other side is super dark. Please add some lights so you can see the menu.

We are greeted by the waitress who seemed half pleasant. We order the guac with tostones that everyone seemed to rave about. After having it, I completely understand why, they're so yummy! The complimentary chips and salsa were great too, that salsa has a pretty good kick to it!

I ordered the shrimp enchiladas which were good but, the rice and beans I wasn't a big fan of. I think this place has decent food and if I'm ever in the area I'd consider coming back to and try other dishes. Probably wouldn't be my first pick, but wouldn't turn down going either.
