  1. Fantastic! We ordered 2 servings of the chicken + cabbage, and decided to go with all of the extras (ttuk, cheese, sweet potato, and fried rice after).

We also ordered an order of a potato pancake. The potato pancake was meh – I was expecting something awesome like what's served at Geo Si Gi (their potato pancake is AMAZING!), and so the limp smallish pancake was a disappointment.

The chicken galbi was awesome! Dark meat chicken with a spicy sauce (but not that spicy) with cut up cabbage cooked up on the table. The banchans are a bit sparse, but we left really full. For 3 of us, it came out to $22 per person, which wasn't that bad. Service was attentive, although I can't imagine how only 2 ladies can handle a full restaurant!

PS – be careful of splashing sauce when they're cooking on the table. I got a sprinkling of sauce on my bag, which I didn't really care about, but just a warning!

They also offer takeout of the other entrees (just not the chicken that's cooked table side, obviously).

  2. Came here on a week night to get my dak kalbi fix, once a year kind of fix. I heard a lot of good things about this place and I can see why. Located in Broadway, there's a decent amount of parking and the restaurant can probably sit 75 people. When my fiancée and I came here it was packed, but luckily got the last available table.

The way you order here, you have to get at least 2 orders of a protein of your choice. We obviously ordered the dak galbi, which is chicken by the way, with a few side orders (sweet potato, cheese and rice cake, got the fried rice afterwards). Overall, price wise it's fair – we spent $70 or $80 I forget, but that was because of the drinks. They bring out a bunch of cabbage and the meat (along with any sides), and throw it onto a stone grill where it cooks. The ban chan (side dish) selection is not much but you barely even need it. It consisted of pickled radish and jalapeño, kimchi and a very refreshing cold radish
soup that cuts through quite nicely. Lastly, they put on what looks to be a semi-spicy red bean paste that really adds the full punch to the food.

    Onto the food!!
The dish is cooked very well, and tastes incredible. In the picture I posted, you see the finished product of the meal. The cabbage has just enough crunch to contrast the tenderness of the chicken. It's very savory, but the sweet potato offsets it if you're into that stuff (I'm usually not but it works here), providing a good balance. The rice cakes are just basted in everything and is just delicious. Lastly, the cheese tops it all off, providing extra flavor and texture. For the two of us, we could not finish the food. Not even close. But we still ordered 1 order of the fried rice, which is rice, bean sprouts, kimchi and I'm sure so sort of sesame oil, etc. it tastes even better. You have to leave some of your dish over and ask the waitresses to mix in the rice for you. Make sure you don't finish your dak kalbi, and order the fried rice afterwards. We ended up taking everything home and ended up being a great lunch the next day.

Overall, I think the price is very fair to the amount and quality of food your getting. Ambience is very typical of a Korean bbq feel – very friendly waitresses, old guys drinking soju and being rowdy, as well as all the foodies taking pictures for the gram. Maybe 5 is a bit aggressive here, but I don't see why it shouldn't get a 5. Great food, great price, great service, great ambience. Nothing to complain about. Check it out!

  3. Ive been wanting to eat real korean dak galbi and thought this place would give us that satisfaction. I don't understand why people love this place. No matter what dak galbi should come with cabbage and onions at the least but this place doesn't serve onions… so with our servers recommendation we ordered the sweet potato.

Now when the server was coming around with the meat, she started to put in the pot and then stopped halfway leaving the plastic plate in there with the juice sizzling everywhere. A different server had to come and finish serving us giving us the mini aprons so our clothes didn't get splattered with the sauce everywhere. As she's stirring, its getting messy. Thats understandable but our whole table was getting rained on. She didn't bother to give us napkins or get us new cups when ours is filled with the still raw chicken juice. I thought this is was a bit on the extreme side. Maybe we just ended up getting a newbie server. But i was definitely unhappy. I still had high hopes for the food though.

When we all took a bite, none of us enjoyed it. The chicken wasn't tender and it was chewy. The sauce itself was spicy but had no real flavor to it. The chicken didn't even soak up the sauce well so it tasted like a huge disappointment overall. On top of this, there ended up being those small flies in the food. So we all ended up leaving barely touching it.

  4. After a trip to Korea this summer, where Dakkalbi was a staple, I was itching to find a place in the states that served it up. And here it is!

Dak kalbi is consists of marinated chicken, cabbage, topokki (rice cakes), and potatoes. The mixture is all stirred up together in front of you with some gochujang (red chili paste). AND DONT FORGET TO ADD THE CHEESE!

It all sounds so strange, but its a melting pot of delicious once you eat it.

Then at the very end, they add rice to give you a completely different meal!

It can be a bit daunting to come in here, not speaking korean, or just not knowing what to do, but the waitstaff is extremely friendly.

Seriously a must try for anyone who is unfamiliar; korean food goes much further than just kbbq! TRY TRY TRY.

  5. Pretty yum! They cook the meat right in front of you in this big grille. We had the chicken mix with squid and the portion was pretty large and came with cabbage as well. At the end, they pour some cheese on top. It was nicely flavored and delicious.

At the end, they come and sautéed the rest of the dish with some rice and veggies and that kind of taste like bibimbap and delicious as well.

The only thing is the side dishes were very limited and only 3 dishes of kimchi, picked radish,  and fish cake

Overall a good place and low carb friendly for those who do low carb diet!
