  1. Classic diner with reasonable prices.  Great place to grab some breakfast in LIC.

  2. slightly better than average breakfast. I liked the irish breakfast with the white and black pudding.

They did forget our toast a couple times but the food was pretty decent.

    It's a little more than a diner.

  3. My girlfriend lives right off the 7 line stop by this place, so we decided to get a quick bite here before heading to the bar next door to watch the ballgame. Great decision.  It was practically empty, staff was friendly, and food was delicious, cheap, and came out SO fast. We placed our order and it literally came out 3-5 minutes later. Usually that's a red flag, but everything was fresh, hot, and made exactly to order. I love that we have a new go-to diner right off the train if we're not into getting a fancy or specific cuisine. Plus, it's right across the street from a Mets bar and that's always a plus.

  4. Mediocre fare at best… but as with many venues in the area, it's just so convenient.

I was excited to have a "fluffy" omelette as described on the menu, what was presented to me instead was overcooked egg that was pressed while cooking and scraped off the hot plate about two minutes too late. Someone teach this guy how to do this correctly please?

Service was aiiight… but just aiiight.

  5. If you want a hearty breakfast and skip all that extreme fancy stuff, Dorian is a good place.

It has the typical diner menu with Chicken Souvlaki being my favorite.

However, the latest addition is the CooCoo chicken wings. Korean style fried to a crispy and tasty goodness. Choose between Soy Garlic or Spicy. They are just as good as Bon Chon or the likes of UFC. Trust me.

  6. How does this not have 5 stars?!?

Full disclosure, I am a HUGE fans of diners. Therefore, I had high expectations walking into Dorian Cafe. My expectations were BLOWN out of the water.

My boyfriend and I ordered eggs for a big day on the Town. I ordered the Frittata Breakfast Special for $11 and got a packed eggy layer of spinach, goat cheese, and an assortment of vegetables.

    And that's not all.

Then I was brought out extremely good orange juice and perfect diner unlimited coffee. Paired with the dense and hearty breakfast. It was expected as the "breakfast special" but was surprised by the quality.

    And that's not all.

I received a plate of toast with butter and jelly. Geeze, what a pleasant surprise.

    And that's not all.

Then the killer of the meal came out. Home fries with onions and green peppers. And these were the best home fries I've ever had. I mean, if this was all I ordered, I would have given Dorian Cafe an A+. Though this was an afterthought.

Are you surprised we went back the next day as our "last stop" in the city?

  7. Had breakfast here twice during our stay in LIC and would have gone a 3rd time if we hadn't been running late to get to JFK on our last day.   First of all, they serve the biggest cup of coffee I have ever seen!  Two of those will keep you going all day, lol.  And the breakfast portions are pretty big too.  I had bacon, eggs and potatoes both times and it was perfect both times.  Our server on the second day, Patricia, was awesome.  Just like Julie at Skinny's, she was super helpful, friendly and pretty hilarious too.  We were asking for directions somewhere and she actually looked it up for us on her phone, and left her phone with us while she took another order!  The only (very small) issue was had was the size of the tables.  With the huge coffee cups, breakfast for 4, water and juice glasses, we barely had room and had to stack some stuff up.

Also, the subway is literally right outside the door, so after breakfast, we just jumped on the 7 train and one stop later, we're in Manhattan!

  8. Seems like I've forgotten to write a review after coming here several times. Dorian cafe is incredibly conveniently located right outside of the Vernon/Jackson Ave 7 subway station. Like, literally: you exit the station and it's right there.

The cafe has never been jam packed when I visited, so that's a big plus. I think it may be different for breakfast or lunch hours, since they do a great breakfast and lunch special here, but generally speaking I think you'll be able to get a seat no matter when you come.

The food here is, well… the menu is incredibly vast, so you'll have a ton of things to choose from. For instance, they serve your typical diner food: breakfast stuff like eggs, omlettes, waffles, pancakes, etc etc. Then, they also do sandwiches, roasted chicken, pot pies, greek food… literally everything. You can also just order cereal or dessert if you're not in the mood for food. One particular item that stands out is the Coco Crisp Chicken, which is actually the specialty of this restaurant. There is a listing on yelp actually for Coco Crisp being an entirely separate restaurant, but it's not. The Coco Crisp is actually a kind of korean fried chicken that they serve here, and it takes something like 15-20 minutes to be prepared. I've never had it here, but people all say that it's very good.

The thing I like the most about this place however is that these people are incredibly professional and that they are very honest business people. Several months ago, I left my credit card here by accident, immediately before I had a business trip. I was out of town for a long while, so I wasn't sure if I should just cancel the card or not. I called them and they said they were happy to hold on to it for me for as long as I needed. So, I went back and behold, they still had the thing for me. No fraudulent charges on my card either!

So, from this particular experience, I can tell you that the people who work here are of excellent moral character. The service is good, and the food is great too. I personally recommend the BLT sandwich (which is a bargain at $5.75) and a slice of pie.

They take all credit cards with no minimum charge, which is HUGELY appreciated.
