One of the many things I miss about St. John's and Queens in general. If you come here past 11pm, you will definitely see drunk STJ kids stumbling around. There are a bunch of custom sandwiches that are named after STJ items which is pretty cool. The sandwiches are cheap and very filling. You have to be specific with your order because sometimes they aren't very detail-oriented…lol. It's a great place if you're looking for something late-night or quick.
Very similar to Cherry Valley. I've only been here twice and I got "The Beast" and the "SJROTC." Both are very good. Prices are comparable to any other deli like this so I don't think it's 'too expensive.' I think Cherry Valley and Christina's are better but if you don't want I travel all the way to Whitestone, this is pretty good.
This place is open 24/7 so that's solid especially if you're studying at SJ and need something to eat. The owner is real nice too. Definitely recommend trying this place out if you're around the area.
Double J is the little deli that could. A great neighborhood joint for great sandwiches, wraps & to-go breakfast. This is the type of place where the cops hangout, so you know the food is good and John the proprietor knows you by name. Open 24 hrs and only 2 blocks from St John's University makes it a great place for beer runs, late night eats, hangover & post-partying crawls.
Recently, they've added all these funky sandwiches with wacky names and weird combinations you see at other college town delis. There's the Grill Man w/ cajun roast beef, grilled onions, chipotle sauce on garlic bread, the Fly Me to the Moon w/ turkey pastrami, chicken nuggets, cheese. There's also the End of the World (don't remember what's on it), a heart attack on a hero. Customize them how you want them, and eat them at anytime of day you want. The specialty sandwiches range from $6.50-$9.50 and it's cash only.
