Duane Reade

“In this case I had two–the normal medical assistant and a medical assistant in training.”

“Better than many of the other Duane Reades in Manhattan and Brooklyn, which smell like cat pee as soon as you enter.”

“Store is huge, they have enough groceries to get by (and by that, I mean Doritos, chips & salsa, and beer), and the pharmacy is open until 10pm.”

  1. They sell Sweet & Sara desserts, I was able to get a few brown rice crispy treats.
    I was also going to buy some smores and marshmallows, but they were not properly refrigerated. They were just sitting on a shelf and the label on the smores and marshmallowsclearly say to refrigerate the products!

    I told the lady who rang me up at the register that some of the treats should be refrigerated and she seem quite disinterested.

    In addition, the line was super long at 10pm. It took me almost 10 minutes to get to check-out. That's pretty bad customer service, if you ask me. Sigh, I am becoming an impatient New Yorker! I didn't really like this location (except for the fact that they have Sweet & Sara desserts) but then again, I don't really like any Duane Reade stores, so 3 stars is pretty generous on my part.

  2. Love love love !!! If Extreme Makeover had a pharmacy edition, this place would have comprised the season premiere. Let's review our checklist of requirements for a great pharmacy, shall we?

    * Vast selection of beauty and wellness products? Check
    * Assortment of food? Check
    * Clean, presentable, brightly lit store? Check
    * Accommodating, friendly pharmacists? Check

    And now for the bonus round …

    * A supermarket, complete with fresh produce, a spectrum of ready-made meals, fresh pastries and a cappuccino machine
    * A cosmetics department with scrubs, creams, lotions, kits, as well as a makeup and nail selection that rivals Sephora
    * Papyrus stationary, gift baskets and occasion-specific gift ideas
    * A walk-in health care clinic with knowledgeable and friendly doctors
    * Cookbooks and cookware
    * A Blockbuster DVD rental kiosk

    I am here frequently, whether to stock up on some needed toiletries, or to pick up a snack. I've used the walk-in health care clinic several times and the doctors have always been kind, professional and knowledgeable. I love it here

  3. Initially I went there late this morning just to kill time.  However, I liked the store; it's rather spacious, it's clean, and it's not overly-cluttered.  The first floor has food items and the lower level has everything else.  I was intrigued by the huge display of small perfumes (which were very reasonably-priced) and I spent a ridiculous amount of time smelling almost every scent.  One of them was called "Funeral Home", so that was a little weird – but anyway; the selection of cosmetics and other items is very extensive.  I bought a nice hairbrush and the cashier was very pleasant.  Also, the store is open 24 hours/day.

  4. This one will do…if you're in the area…or need a quick pit stop before heading down into the subway.  The prices are some times higher than other DR's due to the location…but I've also found some STELLAR deals on beer, fabreeze, men's shaving/grooming products, and the like.  The donuts always seem to be stale when I'm in a state that makes me crave munchies.  But it's clean, well lit, in a good location, and the staff are decently friendly.

  5. I ran in here because I'm dumb and I forgot to pack gloves on my trip to NYC. I was trying to find those cheap magic gloves and sure enough, they had a nice stash here for $1.99-$3.99 depending on whether you wanted texting capabilities or not. Even the cheap gloves offered decent texting ability so I was sold.

    This store has two floors. The lower floor is where all the drugs, makeup, and shampoo are. The upper floor seems to be dedicated towards food and random gadgets.

    And of course who can forget the Chase ATM at the front! Classic Duane Reade.

  6. Best Duane Read EVER!  What a lovely surprise to find such a bright 24-hour haven of everything and anything — from your junk food, to pharmacy stuff (cosmetics, health stuff, drugs), to fresh food and prepared foods, including sushi that won't kill you! amazo!!!!

    You will ENJOY coming here – which is a shocker from Duane Reade.  Can you believe it — also plenty of friendly cashiers! So 5 stars all the way!
