  1. We came in here after walking around NYC in the midst of a heat wave, looking for a nice cold drink. We walk to the back of the dimly lit store and open the drinks fridge. Shockingly, upon touching the drinks, they are clearly slightly cooler than room temperature. This is not cool! Management, you shouldn't cheapen out on your electricity bill in the name of barely cool drinks. We turned around and just walked out. We took our business next door, where we bought 2 freshly cold bottle drinks. Stay away from this foul establishment. Shut it dooown!

  2. Ew!  This Duane Reade skews on the nasty side!  It's dirty and disorganized and the workers are unfriendly.  When I made my purchase, there were no words spoken, just a couple of grunts.

Plus, the way the registers are set up, it's hard to know if a line is forming down one of the aisles or if it's going parallel to the registers, which leads to people lining up in two places.  Why can't they just put some ropes up?

This goes on the bottom of my Duane Reade list.  Yuck.

  3. It's grimy and the staff is relatively apathetic. It's usually relatively well-stocked, though – so it gets the job done.  Just too bad it can't kick things up a notch given its prime location at the hub of West 4th Street.

Never actually used them for their pharmacy component, so can't speak to their strengths (or potential lack thereof) on that front.

  4. Tiny store, with an even smaller selection. I went in for allergy pills and there was only their way overpriced brand. I asked if they had an over the counter allergy nasal spray and rudely both employees said what!? No!  As if I was asking for something illegal. I then had to wait in line 10 minutes… Not because there was a lot of people, because the cashier took FOREVER to check out an older woman with 5 objects.
If you're looking for a decent drug store, try cvs or rite aid

  5. The most ghetto Duane Reade I have ever seen. The floor is ugly. There seems to be some unsavory people hanging around this store/area too.

  6. Pros: Some good deals here ($2 anti-perspirant!) and there was a pretty short line so you can scan your rewards card and be on your way seconds later. The girl at the register was pretty friendly and efficient.

Cons: Disorganized and messy (when I was here, a dude was doing stock, taking up an entire aisle with stuff all over the floor. Downstairs, the pharmacy was closed early Saturday evening (not sure what the hours are), and appeared to be in general disarray. Also, the West 4th/West 8th bums go in and out, and greet you at the door with their palms out.
