  1. A bit cluttered and slow cashiers here. I also get the feeling that they were busy conversing before I stopped in to interrupt.  Felt like a bit of a more costly venue than the average DR, for some reason.

  2. In a nutshell: 2-floor Pharmacy with the slowest lines I've experience in NYC.

So I needed a bottle of water. There were at least a dozen people waiting in line in front of me.  They then said that there was an open register in the back of the store with no wait. Went back there and was out in 10 min. Strangely enough, no one left the original line to go to the line without a wait.

    Strange.

The store looks very clean, but the aisles are very close together, and everything feels cramped.

  3. Store #14276

As of 2010 Walgreen's, the national pharmacy chain, agreed to buy NY iconic institution Duane Reade Holdings and will retain its brand name including Delish signature Duane Reade brand name operating under Walgreen's.  Statement verified by Walgreen's site.

Without this vital information of Duane Reade's acquisition, I came here to seek a cheap meal as my economic situation remains an increasing concernment.  This Duane Reade contains an in-house mini bakery for muffins, croissants, including prepared foods as fruit, sandwiches, and sushi to go.  They will continue to carry their signature cost-effective brand name Delish.  Duane Reade's in-store radio announcement stated the conversion of their loyalty rewards card in response to their Walgreen's acquisition.  The cashier was very informative of my loyalty card conversion as having my contact details updated online speedup the process. One Delish sandwich of Forest Ham Brie on Italian bread at $6.49 was the freshest bread I've recently encountered.  The French Brie cheese was ample surmounting a fulfilling lunch after a very disappointing morning that tepid my inner joy.

  4. This, ladies and gentlemen takes the cake as worse Duane Reade in NYC. How many Duane Reades are there anyway? 10,000? One on every corner at least. Right?

Anyway, the setup is horrible. Need help? Good luck finding an associate. Being a prime location of Herald Square, you'd expect more. Everything is scattered all over the store.

The store is drab and always dirty. The pharmacy downstairs is a joke and the older gentleman pharmacist with the yarmulke, dude, lighten up. Your attitude and unprofessionalism sucks! You don't like working in the worse Duane Reade in NYC, get another job.

I asked him for a specific cold medicine I wanted and saw at another Duane Reade. Dude told me that medicine was not carried in store. To my surprise, I looked a little harder and found it. When I went back to show him I found it, he gave me the only look.

    DICK.

  5. Layout of this location is terrible with the escalator smack dab in the middle of the store with little room to walk around it.  Fire hazard if you ask me.  The overall layout is just terrible and don't visit the pharmacy in mid-day and actually expect someone to help you.  Take your prescriptions elsewhere.

  6. I really hate Duane Reade just because the staff is way less than friendly in most locations.  This one was no exception but whatever.  I really didn't like that most important things are downstairs and yet they don't label that anything is downstairs other than the pharmacy.  Also they turn off the escalators (after the pharmacy closes maybe?) at night so if you go downstairs for beer and snacks and mixers (as I did) then you are stuck carrying them up the stairs, trying not to drop anything while the staff and security guard just stare at you.  Awesome.  But whatever, it is in a useful location and at least they do have a good beer selection (even if it is intensely overpriced).

  7. A very busy location right near Macy's Herald Square. Duane Reade is of course much more than just a drugstore pharmacy, you can buy everything from hair products, make-up, snacks, cold drinks, and every day house hold cleaning products. I came in and bought some under armor white Hane's T-shirts. Nice store location, the clerks were friendly and very efficient. 🙂

  8. Duane Reade is everywhere and this is just another of their eleventy-billion locations in the City. Not far from Times Square and Greeley Park, I popped in to fill a desperate need.

The store is on two levels – street and basement – with the pharmacy downstairs and the street level almost totally stocked with snacks and drinks. I specifically use the term "down stairs" because the "down" escalator wasn't working when I visited. I managed to find exactly what I needed and I was surprised that the price was actually reasonable. Fortunately, the "up" escalator was operating and I was able to get to the register, pay for my purchase, and escape.

There are probably way better pharmacies in NYC, but DR is certainly the most convenient.
