I'm not a huge fan of Dunkin' Donuts coffee but when I'm in the mood, I actually find this DD coffee better then some of the other stores. The service on the other hand… SUCKS for the most part. A few months ago I stopped in one morning before work. The place was empty. Literally! Not even a counter person to be found. I stood there for several minutes waiting, trying to be patient. Someone finally emerged from the back. At that time, another customer entered the store. The guy behind the counter told me he'd be with me in a minute & disappeared yet again! So now there were 2 customers waiting for service. After waiting about another 2 or 3 minutes, I walked out & went on my way. This was around 6-6:30am when most people need to get on their way quickly so they aren't late for work. I'm not sure these people quite get that concept as we fast forward to about one week ago…
I was craving some iced coffee after work so decided to stop in. The store was dead. And the people working there could've been mistaken for dead too from their NON-reaction to a customer (me) entering the store. The girl at the counter was hunched down with her arm resting on the counter, cell phone in hand & appeared oblivious that I was standing right in front of her. At the same time, I noticed another girl sitting behind the counter off to the right side with her cell held up in front of her, texting away, & also not seeming to notice me there/not really caring! Finally, after being ignored for about 30 seconds or so (I wasn't letting it go much longer), um… HI!!! The girl still didn't want to stop playing on her cell even with a customer standing right in front of her waiting to be served. I could feel the heat rising in me so I knew I BETTER get my iced coffee and fast. Finally… she somehow found it in her to peel her eyes away from the cell phone, put it down & acknowledge me (barely though). What TOTAL BULLSHIT! With so many people out of work & struggling, it's just shocking to me to find people out there that are lucky enough to have a job & don't take it seriously. DD might not be the cream of the crop of places to work, but it IS still a job. No matter how crappy, one could use the work experience as a stepping stone to betterment! The laid back "I don't give a fuck" attitude really sucks & should not be tolerated but it looked as though there was no manager on site. It's even sadder if these 2 girls, who obviously did not give a shit about performing their job duties, were being entrusted to do so. Again, I don't claim DD is an ideal place to work but at least fake it or get a job more suited to your "I don't give a fuck" attitude! Like NO job! Note: I have encountered some very nice, helpful people on occasion at this DD. It's too bad for the bad apples. Unfortunately, they're the ones who leave a bad taste…
This is 5-stars as far as the world of chain restaurants. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly, I got to try the new DD cronut. While I did not wait in line for six hours and therefore haven't tried a legit cronut, I really hope the real deal is better than the DD version.
