  1. An average diner.  It is a family type atmosphere.  The egg breakfast had some great sausage, but was very uninspiring.  I would go again to try their other specials.  It was the eggs that were disappointing.  The search for diners goes on!

  2. You can't expect much at a diner.

Food: OJ was great! Potatoes were blah and bland. Eggs were good. Bread was a bit hard but good with butter and grape spread.

    Service: Good service.

I think Cosmo's Diner is better.

  3. Friendly corner diner, don't expect anything apart from your typical diner food. Their menu is not as extensive as Orion's but the food quality and prices are about the same. However, I am going to feel like a piggy for admitting to this, I am addicted to their Americano breakfast wrap. It is a wrap filled with home fries, scrambled eggs, and bacon. I top it off with some hot sauce and I'm a happy camper! Try it out, if you're willing to take on the extra calories.

  4. Love this place. There really isn't that much to say about these kinds of establishments, but if you can picture a small NYC diner with fun people always chatting at the counter, a huge menu, quick kitchen, solid waitstaff, clean utensils/plates/booths, daily specials, a flat screen tv (necessary for solo trips) and generous food portions then you have a solid vision of what ESD is all about. Should you go out of your way for it? Nah. But it does beat many of the other diners around Manhattan.

  5. I order my breakfast from this place anytime I'm working overnight at the VA.

Their breakfast wraps are pretty good. I've had the Americano, which contains bacon, egg, cheese, and home fries. It's a pretty heavy wrap if you're craving something substantial after a long night of work. You can also make your own wraps here. They have pretty much every breakfast ingredient you can think of.

The service here is pretty fast. I always call in my order and then walk across the street to pick it up. They usually make your food in under 15 minutes. The guy who takes orders speaks English so that's a definite plus.

Overall, this place doesn't blow me away, but it always delivers predictable food with reliable service.

  6. The meal was pretty good until we had to kill the monster cockroach climbing on the wall behind us.

I mean, even in my inebriated state with my group of drunken friends which together we had just come over from Zum Schneider's Oktoberfest on the East River, that was a bit much for me.

Yeah, yeah, I know these little critters are in every restaurant in NYC, but I really don't want to see one crawling on the wall next to me as I am pounding down my pancakes and eggs.

Overall, the food was typical diner offerings, and the coffee pretty good too. Even the bathroom was clean. Good service too.

Yet, cockroaches that want to do a song and dance next to me while eating is no bueno!

  7. It's a reliable, decent diner. My experience with it is solely for work. When I get stuck working late night or during a bad on-call and I run out of food, it's a good option for a quick pick-up due to its 24/7 operation. Fairly standard diner fare but they're always on time with the scheduled pick-up East Side Burger is a solid choice, if you're in the mood for a big fat burger (it's honestly very good). The gyros are great, too but also on the heavy side of the nutritional spectrum.

Would recommend for a pick-up when other options are closed. For breakfast, it's too overpriced and you're better off looking elsewhere nearby to get the same exact item for $2 or $3 less.
