Where do you go eat after a wedding and before the evening reception? After we paraded around downtown Manhattan in our bridesmaids and groomsmen outfit for while, we stopped in at Ecco.
Now I'm not a big fan of Italian cuisine, but I appreciate it. So I tend to default to cheesy pasta dishes when I do get the chance.
The antipasti was a delicious assortment of bread, olives, cured meats, and delicous, fragrant, Parmigiano-Reggiano.
1. Pappardelle Casalinga – delicious and fresh, it was the perfect harmony was ricotta cheese and pasta (I'm not a big fan of tomatoes, although the taste was fresh and subtle). I finished the dish with no leftovers =)
2. Penne Vodka – the creamy taste was more stronger here, since it's no ricotta. But it was yummy.
If I ever end up in Tribeca again, definitely gonna visit here again.
Came here mainly because it was the closest place that didn't have an hour long wait and wow am I glad I did.
The food was wonderful. The gnocchi was cooked to perfection as were my friends clams.
It's definitely a pricey place but our bill came to $67 for 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Worth it because the food and experience were great, but because of the price, I don't think I'd frequent this place.
A colleague recommended this place as an old school Italian restaurant. And so it is! I had a very tasty tricolore salad and perfect appetizer portion of the puttanesca. The chianti the waiter recommended was delightful and paired perfectly with our meal. The service was friendly and our waiter told us the specials and brought over a blackboard with the descriptions and prices. I would give this place a 4.5 star. Half a star short of perfection because it's a tad pricey and the bread was stale. I'd still happily come back.
Ecco is an excellent place for an intimate conversation and a cozy date. The lighting, soft music and tantalizing cuisine will make your date hunger for more of you. I was pleasantly surprised by the soft and delicate profile of the mozzarella, which came in a very sizeable proportion. Everything I had, from the mozzarella appetizer to the zoopa di pesce and finally the cheesecake, all came in generous and hearty portions. The cheesecake was dense and yet oddly fluffy at the same time! Have a date and need a spot? You have it at Ecco!
I had a team lunch at Ecco this past Tuesday and let me tell you the food was AWESOME…… Not only was it Awesome…………… but it was very old school and I loved it……………… they served the women first then the men……..
And the food was very good……………. it was a group of 12. Each of us ordered something different and we all loved it……………….
This is a great spot to go to if you are in the mood to splurge………. Happy Eating!!!!!
"Is this an ironing board?"
Is it the religious upbringing that makes me feel guilty for disagreeing with my fellow yelpers? The last review here was 1 star, but I give Ecco a solid five. Not to discredit you guys, but….
This place is totally reliably awesome. I am never dressed up enough, but they are gracious enough to ignore that. Their waitstaff is a well choreographed ballet of professionals.
The wine list, the quality, the staff… it's beauty. Yes, it's small. My daughter asked, when we were seated at our booth, "Is this an ironing board?". And she was right! It was, totally.
But who cares?! When the pasta is homemade and the wine list is Italian, and the dessert station blocks the entry way… no one loses.
Nice atmosphere, live piano music. A lot of daily specials. We had the crabcake and baked seafood appetizers and 2 chicken entrees. One was parmisian and one was with mushrooms and sausage. Everything was excellent. The crabcake was my favorite. It was prepared very differently than i ever had before. It was thinner and crisper than others i have had. The main course portions were huge.
Service was almost too good. We felt a tiny bit rushed, but i really dont think it was the case.
I would go back.
Came here for a team dinner with my colleagues. I actually enjoyed the complimentary bread, which they paired with cheese and sopracetta. We then ordered vegatables and calamari to share.
I ordered the gnocchi–large portion but a little too garlic-y. Dishes tended to be on the pricier side as well and for the Tuesday, the place seemed very loud and stuffy.
