Bonnie G. and I stopped for lunch after an appointment in the area. Been awhile since we ate there but we always liked their thin crust pizza. It was around 2:30 and we had the dining room to ourselves. We ordered an Eddies Special Pizza in large size and an order of Linguini with white clam sauce. The pizza was loaded with toppings and when you picked up the slice it didnt crumble like many other pizzas…stood firm on the thin crust and was outstanding! The pasta was also a hit…full of clam and perfectly prepared. With tip came in at about $40 which included one iced tea. We will be back to enjoy their other dishes for dinner.
After being out on the island a few years I finally was able to visit this New Hyde Park classic with a friend that has been here a few times (so she knew the ropes), while I was a first timer to this divey classic. I am happy I did.
Although they have a full bar we only order a couple of seltzers as we look over the menu. I knew I was going to order a plain individual bar pie, just to get an understanding of the hype. We decided to share a tossed salad. My friend ordered a ind. whole wheat with spinach and eggplant.
The service was good and attentive. We got our salad first which was quite large with chunks of tomato and cucumber on top of the lettuce. We got the dressing on the side that comes in a squeeze bottle. I like this simple salad – reminiscent of a horiatiki served in many a greek place.
The pies arrive – the moment of truth. With pomp and circumstance I take my first bite – thin crispy yet slightly chewy crust, tangy sauce with mozzarella cheese hit. I have to say I like this simple classic just fine. I add a little grated cheese and red pepper flake since I like a little heat. I try a slice of my friend's and I like the thickness along with just enough toppings. No major taste different between the regular and whole wheat crusts.
We take our time as we enjoy our conversation. The busser anxiously asks if we were finished and want to wrap anything up, we had to turn him away a couple of times before we threw in the towel. They really love boxing things to go here! lol
Complimentary rainbow cookies come with the check. We move on to our next destination as I contemplate my return wondering what toppings I will order next time!
Authentic thin crust pizza. You can't get anything like Eddies pizza anywhere else on Long Island. I have been coming here for years and we always get the classic regular pie with pitchers of soda. Don't ever change Eddies!
While the super thin bar pie is good (best eaten right away or it gets soggy on way home) it's made in a dark danky dive bar. It's like you walked into a 60's dive bar in the middle of nowhere land. Great set location for a horror movie. The attached dining area gave me the heebeejeeebies. I didn't want to touch anything. There was definitely a weird odor, like a soggy dog. tinny silver wear with those red plastic tall cups for cokes. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I did order the bar pizza on another occasion to take out. And it took forever, like 45 mins, not really worth it.
This restaurant is so cool. It looks like an old mafia bar when you walk in. The dining area is non-descriptive. We had a regular pie, white pie and vegetable pie. The white pie was the best. I would definitely recommend that. We had mozzarella sticks and zucchini sticks. They were good. This is a fun place to go to but it is cash only.
Don't eat in. I like their thin crust pizza, but this place smells bad. They need cleaning!! I heard about their smell from my husband, and he had never went back there for long time because of smell until I asked him to take me to the place which serves thin crust pizza. We hoped they cleaned up since my husband went there last time and it wouldn't smell any more, but there was no change. I liked their pizza and cappuccino which comes with brown sugar stick, but I don't think I will eat in again unless they clean and remove the smell. If I go back there, I will order to go. They have good ratings and they must have been earning enough money to clean the place, so they should clean!!
Eddie's Pizza is a cool little pizzeria that apparently has been around for years. My boyfriend's family that lives on Long Island go there all of the time and swear by it! Our most recent trip to Long Island, his family couldn't believe that I had never tried Eddie's, so they insisted that we all go for lunch one day. When first walking in, you notice all of the pictures on the walls of famous people that have eaten there with their signatures and saying how much they love Eddie's. So at this point, you can guess I had really high hopes for the pizza. There were seven of us, so we ended up ordering four pizzas; two plain with just cheese, one with hot cherry peppers and black olives, and one Eddie's special. The Eddie's special has pepperoni, meatballs, green peppers, sausage, mushrooms, and onions. Now you may be thinking that 4 large pizzas for 7 people is a lot of food but it actually isn't. The star of the pizza is their super thin crust and its delicious. By not having a super doughy crust, the flavors of the toppings really shine through. I did not try the Eddie's special, but I had a couple of pieces of both the cheese pizza and the cherry pepper/olive pizza. Both were delicious and I was left feeling very satisfied but not overly stuffed (which is how I normally feel after eating pizza). Overall it was a really good experience and a must visit when on Long Island. I did not see the bill, but the prices on the menu seem on par with other pizza prices. I am definitely a fan!
Come here anytime I want real crisp pizza done well. Mind you I'm a New Yorker who has lived in other places so I know what pizza can be and should be. Also italian so kind of know something about it…
