I went here a few days ago for lunch, and I loved it! They have some seriously awesome alcohol deals for lunch, like $2-5 beers and a $15 margarita pitcher. You really can't beat deals like that on drinks, especially paired with some yummy tacos and quesadillas! I got the Super Shrimp Taco, the Three Fish Taco, and a cheese quesadilla, and my friend got the Enchiladas Regulares meal. We were so satisfied, and the atmosphere was great!
One of my favorite places in Park Slope for happy hour. Love their sangria and street corn! They give you homemade chips and salsa when you sit down, which is very delightful. The atmosphere is chill and laid back, with plenty of seating around the many open doors and sidewalk because of their corner location.
My friend and I stopped by for lunch on our way to go shopping, and the quality of the food was disappointing, to say the least.
We each ordered the chicken, rice, and beans lunch special, which comes with one's choice of a side. I chose the maduros, and she chose the avocado salad. These ended up being the best parts of the meal. The cuts of chicken didn't include much meat, and what was there was dry. The rice was decent enough, but the beans were undercooked- and flavorless.
With all of the other options in the area, we definitely won't be back.
First impressions are everything. That is why I can't see myself giving El Pollito another try. The restaurant is small but they make it work. As I sat to order, there's a bowl ready for guacamole and chips which I must admit are pretty good. Drinks are pretty good too.
I ordered arroz con pollo after I was informed there were no more burgers. My old lady ordered the shrimp burrito and at the end of our meal, after two orders of chips + dip, drinks, and our entrees all totaling up to about $80 + tip, we were left with a sense of regret.
The food? It's decent but definitely not worth the bill and I am far from a picky eater. But what made us have to promptly take our food wrapped to go was the unbearable HEAT! I had to beg Jesus just to bring a little bit of breeze in our direction – this day it was too hot to not have AC on deck and this all made for a less than subpar eating experience.
Maybe I'll give them a try during brunch when drink specials are going on, and that's a big "MAYBE". On the bright side, our waitress was cool and they have multiple TVs for your viewing pleasure. Sorry, I can't recommend you go here.
I finally found a neighborhood mexican restaurant that makes food I can be fully satisfied by – and that's coming from a Cali girl with very discerning tastes! had their chicken burrito – juicy chicken with lots of flavor, just enough heat, and very hearty. their freshly made guacamole is an absolute must try. If you're up for it, their mexican bulldog – a strawberry mango margarita with a coronita turned upside down into it – is just the way to go. and thank you Yelp for the free tequila shots!!
The rotisserie chicken was really good and huge and the chicken tostada was great too.
Guacamole was above decent and came out fast.
For the price, this is some solid tasty, greasy, good. Don't come expecting perfection or subtley.
Um, yeah. This place definitely isn't any thing spectacular. In fact, it's just the kind of place you pop into when you're walking up 5th avenue towards the Atlantic-Barclays subway station. A couple friends, Le Boyfriend and I came in here for post brunch drinks because we are a bunch of lushes. It took awhile to get the bartenders attention, who was literally directly in front of us, and we eventually got our drinks. Nothing out of the ordinary, just margaritas. They were actually not too bad, I have to give them that. I wanted a second one but it was a hot day and I didn't want to get too dehydrated. Okay, maybe I'm not such a lush.
While sipping on my drink, I noticed they had a small outdoor seating area outside of the restaurant and quite a few tables inside. I used the bathroom, which was cool (as in brr!) and relatively dark. Behind the bar itself, it looked disorganized but bartenders were able to make room so that my boyfriend could charge his phone. It was also noted that you could eat at the bar, which is what my friend and another patron did. My friend had a soft shell chicken taco but I know she wasn't thrilled with it. I think I remember something about her telling me that she once found a hair in it?
Any who, not exactly dying to come here again though I suppose if I want to pop in for a quick drink I'll come here…but only if I'm passing by!
This restaurant is not the best in terms of Mexican food. I'm surprised at how busy it gets, but then again, I've seen it busy only in the summer, so I imagine the outdoor seating is what brings people in. I can't say it's the worst, but I can say it's not Mexican. It's generic and bland Latin food served sloppily.
