  1. Where do I begin? 3 1/2 of us came here for a quick bite to eat today. What we had ordered were: French Onion Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, BLT, Philly Cheesesteak and a kids Grilled Cheese. . .

    French Onion Soup – good
    Chicken Noodle Soup – okay
    Philly Cheesesteak – Gross
Grilled Cheese – more like non-grilled cheese
BLT – pathetic – had 3 strips of bacon in total with the entire sandwich consisting of lettuce and tomato. Also I asked for the Mayo on the side… I got mayo inside and extra on the side. Wth?!

Okay – so that was just the food. Our waiter, though nice, he lacked a sense of urgency. When we asked for the check he said okay and disappeared – when I turned around to find him he was sitting at the counter with his back to us playing with his phone. I tried getting his attention with a few polite 'excuse me's' but he ignored us and continued to play with his phone. It wasn't till I gestured to my mother an obnoxious WTF is he doing did a waitress see an get his attention. *check your bill if you eat here – he added my daughters free drink in to the bill and tried charging $1.50… I had to correct him on that one. I also observed 1/2 through eating 2 old ladies calling our waiter over to correct their bill… Not sure if he's a flake or just someone trying to get one over on his customers. Either way, glad we all caught the errors!

PS I was pissed that I got charged $7 for a BLT that barely had any bacon on it and was mainly just lettuce and tomato… They've got some serious nerve!!! This place is WAY over priced – if you want a good diner with nice ambiance drive down the road to the City Limits at least there the food quality is worth the few extra bucks!!!

  2. I imagine the Eldorado was quite the place in its heyday.  However, it has become a little tired and worn for the crowd that was there on an early Wednesday morning for breakfast.

I got the breakfast special #2 – 2 egss, bacon, hash browns, toast, juice, and coffee – for less than $9.  Breakfast came out in a reasonable time and was your typical diner fare.  I am a bit of a hash brown snob and these were the potato chunk variety – soft potatoes and just the right touch of flat top burn.  Not as good as shredded and crunchy, but better than sliced.

Off-street parking available behind the restaurant and they accept all credit cards.  This is your typical diner – don't expect too much and you'll be fine.

  3. Hamburgers ordered had no char flavor and meat was not tasty. Fries were the ones you would not bother eating.  Complimentary macaroni salad was tasteless. Coleslaw good pickle good. Cheeseburger had an unmelted piece of cheese on it. Waitresses butted into a private conversation my husband were having and came back twice to the table to chime in.  the place was empty on a Saturday night. This is a diner in decline. We ate here a lot and it was an outstanding place.  The bar consisted of one and a half bottles of Hennessey. Not returning.

  4. First off, Eldorado III is not a Mexican restaurant but is instead a typical Greek style diner.

I went there last week to have dinner and it looked pretty busy so I was hopeful for a decent meal.  I wasn't too sold on the selection so I opted for a burger deluxe and my wife ordered a gyro platter which we figured you really can't go wrong on.

I was seated near the kitchen door and as I waited for my food I noticed that many of the dishes being brought back after people's meals were either half-eaten or just half-heartedly eaten.  Uh-oh, I realized that I was in for a bad meal and I was right unfortunately.

My burger was outright pathetic reminiscent of a bad high school lunch and my wife's gyro was simply a pita laid flat on a plate with 4 strips of warmed gyro with some diced tomatoes and onions beneath it.  Everything was tasteless and all around the diner there was a general sense of disappointment and displeasure which was evident of people's faces.

I don't know if such a place can continue to do business for long but for their sake if they have any hope of surviving I hope that take a serious re-evaluation of their entire operation.  As for any readers, there are plenty of decent diners in the area so save yourself the headache and avoid Eldorado.
