Emilia’s Restaurant
“style bread goes perfect with the diced tomatoes, olive oil, and I believe ricotta or feta cheese.”
“But we opted to give Emelia's a try because it had a warm atmosphere with linen on the tables but not hoighty toity.”
“Lot of things on the menu to choose from including some harder to find items such as Osso Buco and braciola.”

This is our go to restaurant whenever we are on Arther Avenue. The food is delicious, the service excellent – highly recommend.
Arthur Avenue has a number of eateries to choose from, and Emilia's is a classic example of authentic Italian food in the heart of the Bronx's Little Italy.
The feeling Emilia's exudes is typical of a neighborhood restaurant – it's not big (though there is a nice outdoor patio in the back), the decor is no frills, and the staff is friendly. The menu was impressive – there were a number of classic Italian dishes plus a few with modern twists on them.
Everything sounded so good I struggled to choose what to eat. I decided to start of with the burrata – it was delicious, everything you want out of a burrata. The mozzarella was smooth, the filling was creamy, and it was sitting in a nest of prosciutto which complimented the cheese nicely. For my main I had the chicken breast which was breaded and stuffed with shrimp, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes; it came in a mushroom sauce with veggies on the side.
I really enjoyed my experience at Emilia's. The food, decor, and ambiance give off a rustic, neighborhood feel that not many restaurants can pull off – definitely the real deal!
We spent 20 minutes on the PATH train, an hour on the subway, and 15 minutes walking JUST to eat on Arthur Ave. Our experience at Emilia's was worth it, though.
We planned on splitting two pastas among the three of us. However, this restaurant has much more reasonable portion sizes, so we probably would have been better off getting our own dishes. We ordered the manicotti and cavatelli. Good gracious, the tomato sauce was delicious. It was probably some of the best Italian I've had.
The perk to under-ordering our pastas was that we still had room for dessert! We split the black forest cake and the tiramisu. It was just perfect, and so seemingly light. I hate rich, sickeningly sweet desserts, so these were just right.
Unfortunately, the service was sliiiiightly awkward. After we were seated, our server walked over to our table and just kind of stared at us. We all just nervously giggled while we tried to figure out what he wanted. However, he made it up by being able to tell me that the soups all used chicken broth. Kudos to him!
We were in the neighborhood and how can you not head over to Arthur Ave for some good Italian American cooking? The streets are crowded with plenty of choices. Emila's was recommended by a friend so we decide to give it a try. It wasn't as crowded and the wait wasn't as long as some of the others. Besides, we were starving!
The food was as expected with Italian American fare…spaghetti with meatballs, gnocchi, ravioli, parmigiana etc. They were out of the stuffed artichokes so decided to try the Arancini which I loved in Rome. In America the Arancini has grown up to become supersized tennis balls. It was good, similar to what I remembered but didn't take me back to Via Appia. I tried homemade pappardelle with wild boar. The pasta was al dente and flavorful. The meat was tender and did not overwhelm the dish. The other dish ordered was salmon and vegetable as you would expect and not much to write about.
Overall, it feels like a restaurant in Little Italy in the city for me except it is in the Bronx and no tourists mobbing the streets. While this is a good alternative I need to try the others around to really compare. So I'll be back.
Dominiks had a wait of an hour so we arrived here.
Friendly service, seven of us seated in the back near the kitchen. Sparsely decorated but a packed place. Daily specials are inserted in the menus.
Quick service.
Bread and marinated olives and tomatoes are set upon the table.
The calamari is flavorless and unmemorable. The mozzarella sticks are the same.
The mussels in a rich garlic tomato broth are the highlight of the meal. Large specimens are plump and meaty.
The veal Marsala provides three thinly pounded pieces of meat breaded and fried. A rich brown wine sauce and sauteed mushrooms are poured over the top.
The side of ziti in a rich, fresh and sweet red sauce is served just perfectly firm. Fresh grated Parmesan completes the pasta.
Beef lasagna is a deep bowl of rich noodle, meat, sauce and melted mozzarella.
Pork brasciolla, spaghetti and meatballs and chicken Parmesan were all well prepared.
This place was amazing! After a long weekend upstate we met up with friends and decided to hit arthur ave on the way back to Long Island. The staff was friendly, informative and made us feel at home. The outdoor patio was perfect for our party of 4. Romantic and quaint. The good was excellent. We all had something off the specials and no one was disappointed. Most of the desserts cone right from Milan. The Italian cheesecake is made in house. If u like ricotta cheesecake like I do. U will enjoy it. Don't feel bashful ask for the sambucca with ur espresso, they are happy to bring the bottle over. The house merlot was delicious. Can't go wrong with anything here.
Quiet seating, outside, in the Bronx? Yes!
We made a reservation for 8 of us and were able to eat on the patio in the back of the building. It took a while for our waiter to take our food order, but was prompt with drinks. Food came out pretty fast. The grilled octopus appetizer was amazing! I'm still craving it.
I got the pasta with the broccoli rabe and sausage. It was really good but my sausage was super dry.
Service was okay. Our water glasses were never empty,
Came here for a lunch meeting. It was ok but not really foodgasm-worthy. I'm not a fan of Manhattan's little Italy restaurants either so I suppose that's not surprising. I had the pork braciola since they didn't have the original dish I wanted (pappardelle in wild boar ragu) and I was unimpressed.
