Came here as around corner from our hotel and we wanted pizza! Didn't look at reviews before ordering and was worried when I read them but was pleasantly surprised.
Yes this is not a pleasant eat in place but we wanted it to go anyway. We ordered a large pizza and was cooked to order. The pizza was fresh and tasty. We opted for the cheese pizza and it was huge and well priced and really tasty.
Ok the service wasn't the best but they did warm up a little when we were chatty with them so perhaps not used to chit chat!!
Overall I would return and go for the fresh made pizza.
The pizza and garlic knots were amazing. But the service was horrible the workers have vey bad attitudes and seem very unhappy when they are serving you.
Fight it, go home hungry. Do you really need this piece of pie this late? Ok we tried.
If you must. Sure it was 2 am but we wanted pizza. Not wanted but rather WANTED / CRAVED pizza at this hour.
This pizza sort of hit the spot but really not the best pizza you've ever had. Loaded it up with Parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper and garlic salt. Still didn't taste better. We ate the whole thing and feel that the pizza will help us with hangovers tomorrow. Therefore served a GREAT purpose.
Tip – Extremely fun place to people watch especially anytime after 1am enjoy!
I was in the city. I wanted pizza. I got some pizza. It tasted like pizza. I wasn't hungry anymore.
The pizza is good. The prices are cheap but I agree with the other review it is a hole-in-the-wall. It isn't too clean. And while my friend and I were sitting and eating he noticed that a couple (a guy and a girl) went in the bathroom together alone for about twenty minutes. The restaurant staff seemed to not notice and did nothing. I can only imagine what a couple would do alone in a public bathroom for twenty minutes at 11 pm on a Saturday night in Manhattan.. But anyways.. That's the atmosphere.
I've got to say, I had low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. Pizza was really good, though beware, each topping is charged separately so your slice can get a bit pricey very quickly. $21 for 4 slices and a soda… oh Midtown. Loved the crust. Very dingy, pre-Bloomberg style.
Adam and I wanted to make sure we got pizza in NYC to say that we have and this is the place we picked. We picked this place because it was near the empire state building which was our next stop and because it was open since we got there around 11:00 PM.
The staff was friendly and helpful. They had a wide variety of stuff laid out and even more that you can pick from. Adam picked a slice of what was out but I wanted pepperoni and the person in front of me took the last slice. I asked if there was any more and he said he would make it so I was super happy because I got a slice of pepperoni right out of the oven, which didn't take long at all.
Adam enjoyed his slice which was pepperoni and sausage. I enjoyed my slice and we both consumed them in record time. It was a perfect thing to hold us over late at night and have before we did another activity. The slices are a great size.
The place it self has a strong scent of cleaning supplies and it is clearly outdated and nothing fancy. I didn't check the bathrooms out but I didn't feel it necessary.
This place was perfect for what it was, somewhere that was open semi late and we could grab a quick slice, I wouldn't expect anything else from them as this isn't a real restaurant.
Ambience: This is your typical $1 slice pizza place, although I gotta give them a few stars for adequate seating. I was shocked that this place even had seats! Its a nice quick bite place after a loooooong night out.
Staff: Eh, not really friendly. Sort of cold and stand-offish. He was very irritated when someone from our group decided they wanted to get another dish item. They hadnt even prepared the first item but seemed so bothered. Idk, I figured if you're gonna do it, do it with a smile, dude!!
Food: Sorta disappointed, I mean yeah its cheap and its no five-star restaurant, but the pizza looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. I also think they just brush it with oil to make it look more appealing? Although, if anything, that turned me even more off.
Price: BING BING BING! Every graduate student will find this place to be a pocket haven. If you just need to fill up on empty calories and dont want to bust that budget- sure come here.
Will I be back? probably not, but it's not horrible either.
