  1. It's one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city, I have been coming to Emporio for almost 5 years now. You will have a good experience either at the bar area where you can enjoy a good selection of beer and wine, or inside their unique decorated dining room, it's quite beautiful imo.

The menu is extensive, from pasta to pizza to fish to steak, and their cheese plates are awesome as well.

    Couple recommendations:

Chicken Live Pate – it's a perfect combo with a slice of bread, literally can't go any better.

Margherita Pizza – prosciutto topped margherita, great size for sharing!

Bronzino – you can go wrong with this dish, and they make it even better with great tasting brussel sprouts.

  2. If you are looking for an Italian restaurant with great ambients, come here. They have a backyard place behind the entire bar. It's really lovely. Wood tables and dim lights. Forever packed. I liked ginger soup a lot and pasta too.
Overall ambient 4 a bit loud. Good for group and casual hangouts
    Food 3:5+
Price 4 not expensive and great

  3. Dear generic gluten free pizza,

Even when you're soggy or over-baked, you're still perfect. I didn't know perfection could be improved so I'm breaking up with you to go be with Emporio's Spicy Sopressata. Don't call. Don't make it weird. Thanks.

  4. We dropped in for Sunday lunch with three children in tow. Interesting and varied menu, though not so many Italian beers to choose between. The  pizza with spicy sausage was a perfect rendition of a classic, though I wish I hadn't let the kids order Nutella French toast! Spacious, light and comfortable.

  5. First off let me say that this is the most adorable spot for a romantic date. If you like rustic, down to earth, intimate places then go try Emporio. The tables were a good rustic wood and every detail of the restaurant seemed to be chosen with attention to detail. Of course I'm all about the ambiance and decor but really people its hard to ignore this charming place

Now onto the food, because I came here on a date we decided to split the burrata, prosciutto and bruschetta starter. They definitely do not skimp on the portions, there were plenty of pieces of prosciutto to share between the both of us. It was extremely fresh and flavorful. The burrata was melt in your mouth good, when you cut into it the inside was the perfect consistency and was absolutely delicious. the bruschetta was good but fell behind the other two components, it was nice addition to have something to put the prosciutto and burrata on. Also, don't skip out on their bread it is amazing!!

For my meal I had one of their specials, it was a homage linguine with asparagus, crabmeat and saffron. I was a little hesitant because the waitress said that there was no sauce not even olive oil and that all the ingredients produced enough flavor and liquid to create a makeshift sauce. I am so happy I took the chance to get this dish. The pasta was so fresh it tasted like it was made literally right before it came out on my plate. The asparagus although very plain and nothing added to it was phenomenal. There was also an absurd amount of crab meat on the pasta… I was not expecting them to be this generous. The only negative I have about the dish was that the crab had not been sifted through so there was still some pieces of shell or whatever it is that is in lump crab meat. It didn't really bother me but just something to note. This dish was the best example of letting the true flavors and simplicity of ingredients shine through that I have had in a long time.

My boyfriend had the special pork chop. Im not a huge pork fan but he basically licked his plate clean, so thats always a good sign.

Overall, it is always hard to chose from the plethora of restaurants in NYC, but this is a MUST!

  6. Such an unexpected delight!

My friend and I wanted happy hour after work and saw they had free snacks so obviously we ran as fast as we could.

House wine is $6 and my Summer Drink, Aperol Spritz, is $8.

We weren't planning on dinner but the menu was too good to pass up.
Literally the best olives ever. Seriously.

    Octopus is really good.

But the thing that brings me back — the spaghetti sea urchin. So amazing!

So come for cheap drinks and free snacks, stay for dinner.

    -1 star for slow service.

  7. Emporio seemed a bit different on his visit.
It was like a bad parallel universe shift.

The street has construction on it now and maybe some shady leafy green trees have been chopped down.  Instead, there's a temporary boarded wall to the side of the restaurant with the word "emporio" in a traffic direction generic blocky orange font, it could have easily been advertising "merge right" or "welcome to hell" or "tourist trap".

My hunch overall is that Emporio has changed management.  The food was essentially the same, but the bartender was green, strangely happily fake in a forced customer service kind of way that made me guess she had just moved from Oklahoma.

Sparkling water used to be free and served from a tap in a clear bottle.  Now, the sparkling water bottle is $7.   Boy did she light up when I ordered that.

Her service was ungraceful and rushed.  I don't blame her, she is young and has good intentions.

Also the two women next to me were having a conversation at a volume that was uncomfortably loud.  Not that I couldn't hear my own thoughts, but the sound of that ladies voice pressed against my brain tissue.

I ordered a single prosciutto serving $7, that was perfect for breakfast.  The brunch offerings looked pretty standard American like pancakes with a few slight deviations that seemed more Italian.

Overall Emporio felt more like a hotel restaurant on this visit, a little less unique, a little formuliac and a little spendy.  Enough to where I'm on the lookout to replace my old long lost emporio.  (Antibes in East village is French, but it has the quaint bistro feel I'm going for.)

  8. My recent experience at Emporio was amazing!

Even though we made a reservation for 7:30pm, we had to wait ~35min until being seated because it was so crowded on a Friday night. Though we were getting a bit annoyed for having to wait so long in the front (which is a bit cramped as the front area of the restaurant is quite small), the host profusely apologized and offered us prosecco while we waited (the bar was full so we were just standing). Once we were seated and were deciding what to order, the host also brought us a pizza to apologize again for the wait. We were appreciative of the kind gestures — most restaurants wouldn't necessarily do that.

On to the food: Since we already got a taste of the pizza for free, we opted to get the Burrata Ravioli and the Tonnarelli Tomato Basil, both of which were great! The wine selection here is great as well and we were able to get a nice rose to pair with our dishes. To end the evening, we got the Tiramisu which was wonderful as well.

Overall, I definitely would return to Emporio because the staff went out of its way to make up for the long wait (even though we had a reservation) and the food was excellent.
