This is my go-to Thai take out place in the neighborhood. The pad see ew is great, but the noodle soups are a little overpriced for the portion.
Eating in here is totally depressing, though. They did a recent renovation, but it still feels like you're at a strip mall restaurant.
We get food delivered from here fairly often, it's relatively cheap and their delivery service is sort of confusingly fast.
I'm a fan of the vegetarian duck (though I can't attest to its realism) and the noodle dishes and curry are absolutely serviceable. I have a deep, burning passion for the thai crepe appetizer, but that might be a result of my desire to drown in sticky rice skin and peanuts.
All in all, it's pretty decent, but erb makes me long for the bountiful, cheap, and often outstanding Thai joints I was surrounded by when I lived in Chicago. Oh, memories…
Love this place. Seriously.
Great food. Awesome duck galanga!! Love their grilled half chicken and my ABSOLUTE favorite are the chive pancakes!!! So delicious!!
They are always so polite in there. The service is very good and they are very attentive. The food is outstanding. The service is quick. What more can a girl ask for?!
I had a craving for some shrimp pad Thai and just so happen to come across Boon Thai. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by the hostess and given a menu. The hostess was very nice and friendly. I opted for take out, instead of dining in. After ordering my food, I was offered a sit and a glass of water while waiting for my order to get done.
The restaurant had a nice relaxing vibe to it and was very clean. While waiting I had to use the restroom which was also clean and smelled fresh.
The shrimp pad Thai was very good, I had a nice favor, the noodles were cooked just right, and the shrimp were fresh. I will definitely eat here again, but I think next time I'll dine in, instead of take out. Perhaps I'll try a different dish.
Decided to check out Erb tonight as I was working in the neighborhood and I was very pleasantly surprised, especially considering the current 3 star rating on yelp! Honestly, it was some of the best Thai food I've had since moving to Brooklyn about a year ago. It's BYOB with no corkage fee and the food is very reasonably priced. They have a special before 9pm for an appetizer, beverage and entree for $12-16 depending on entree choice. Went with my husband and we ordered:
Tom Kha (with tofu) – Delicious creamy coconut soup with mushrooms. The kaffir lime leaves gave it an amazing depth of flavor and the tofu was the perfect texture.
Spring rolls – fried deliciousness, not too heavy
Pad See ew (with chicken) – a litmus test for thai food for me. They passed with flying colors, highly recommended
Spicy Basil (with pork) – umm amazing.
Larp Gai – My favorite dish on the table. I love the crunch, the spiciness and the tangy flavor of this dish and they hit it right on the nose. Beautiful presentation and incredible taste – a must try.
I also liked the interior of the restaurant, the cool jazz music and the service was 5 stars. Very personable Thai waiter, really friendly and relaxed with an obvious passion for food. GO HERE.
Good little Thai place. I go here a bit for lunch since I work in the area.
The red curry is really where it is at. I absolutely love it, and they tend to get the spiciness of it just right. The basil chicken and pad key mao are a bit weaker taste wise. The pad key mao is especially non-spicy, which is surprising.
Stay away from the appetizers as they are a bit pricy. The decor is relaxed. It's not a fancy restaurant by any means, but seems nice and clean.
It's not as pretty inside as Thai cafe (though the food is leaps and bounds better), but is cleaner looking than Ott Thai; both of which are a few blocks north on Manhattan Ave.
Oh, and if you order for pick up, they are pretty quick at getting your food ready, which is nice.
