  1. This review should have been done several months ago. I stumbled across this rooftop lounge/bar with a group of girlfriends and had a great time. I frequent Williamsburg quite often but I never knew this existed. There was a nice diverse crowd, good music, really cute guy greeted us at the door, no cover charge, and it was also an opportunity to check out the Urban Outfitters before going up to the roof. I cant wait to come back here once the weather gets warmer. Great place for a group of friends or date night.

  2. What a delicious little neighborhood find! It's located up three flights of stairs above what looks like an Urban Outfitters. The food is great and reasonably priced, although, according to my Israeli friend, it's not the most authentic/representative of Israeli cuisine. That said, we would all go back. It also looks like a great place for parties because the space itself is really cool (kind of industrial). We ordered the avocado and cucumber salad (light and refreshing but nothing special), the broccoli (very vinegary but I enjoyed it nonetheless), the burger (very juicy and good flavor), the pork ribs (sweet but not overbearing), and the poutine (which wasn't your traditional poutine; it was much more delicious, in fact). The bread pudding–their only dessert–was outstanding: warm and goey and just a bit salty from the caramel, which went perfectly with the vanilla bean ice cream on top). The cocktails were nothing out of the ordinary and we enjoyed our Cote du Rhone by the glass (I think that was a special). It was about $60/person including tip, which we found very reasonable for the amount of food we got. Would go back and/or have a big group here.

  3. You had Aspall's Cider, so to start – our visit to the bar prior to our reservation was already awesome. And then you had Downeast Cider House, which was a new cider for me – and super even-keeled. Anybody could drink it. Ciders for the win! We couldn't visit the rooftop bar, as they were closed that evening, but we survived.

When we went up to the dining room I switched to a Malbec which was pretty nice, and very appropriate for the meal. The Za'atar pork ribs in smoked date syrup and the Chicken Schnitzel with cauliflower were particularly tasty. The menu here changes regularly – my friends who come here a lot and have even been for tapings of Knife Fight guided us through ordering, so I know some of what were ordered isn't even on their website anymore, which is kind of awesome. It's a bit pricey, but it was a lovely night out with friends!

  4. I have to say I was a little thrown off by the restaurant being basically inside a clothing store, but was very happy with my experience.

Came with a large group for a birthday party. We split a bunch of appetizers, and each had a main course.

Starting off with the menu – takes a little googling to figure out what some items are, but the menu gives a bunch of good options. For apps we got the cucumber dish, pita and baba ganoush / hummus and regular / poutine fries. Everything was tasty. The hummus especially was some of the best I've ever had. Poutine was obviously great because it was poutine.

For the main course, a lot of us went with the chicken schnitzel. Delicious. It can sometimes be a little on the dry side, but this was not at all. My buddy got the burger which I tried and was impressed as well. Other got the ribs and the lamb, and I heard nothing but good things.

As it was a birthday party we kept the waiter busy with drink orders, but the service was very attentive and fast.

Overall, great experience and pretty reasonably priced. Don't find myself in Brooklyn too often but if I do, I'll probably stop by.

    Great roof deck also!

  5. My husband and I came here to meet up with some friends at their rooftop bar.  A bit confusing to find only because we didn't realize you had to go inside the Urban Outfitters to take the stairs/elevator up to the restaurant. We took the elevator up to the rooftop bar and it was very cute. Picnic tables and cute little cabanas. Seating is first come first serve, so we waited a few minutes until a picnic table opened up.

Ordering and receiving our food was a pain in the butt! There are no waitresses so everything is done at the bar. We waited almost an hour to get our entree and we didn't receive our fries for almost 2 hours. I was not alone in this because a good portion of the people there was complaining about this as well. The bartender was obviously flustered by this and tried his best to get the kitchen to hurry our orders up. He did comped everyone with food orders with drinks so at least he tried to make it up for us.  It's still ridiculous that it would take so long to get french fries! I would not come back until their service is improved.

  6. The rooftop was kind of meh for me- it looked bigger in the pictures and there really wasn't that much of a view. Good happy hour prices from 5pm to 7pm tho so if you're more into that than anything, have a go.

Dinner downstairs was okay- the prices were a bit high for the quantity of food that they give you. Even our server suggested that we order two entrees each because she knew the portions were smaller than usual. We left the place still hungry and searching for a food cart.

I would say go here for happy hour but skip the restaurant.

  7. Gorbal's is located on top of the Space 48 (Urban Outfitters) in Williamsburg.  You take the elevator to the top to get in.  The rooftop and view are incredible.  It's designed with all wood; there are even little "tents" that small groups can gather in.  However, the drinks were mediocre and the bartenders were very slow.  I'd go back for the view.

  8. We received a gift card here from my cousin who had heard of this restaurant through Ilan and the Knife Fight television show. Not quite sure was "Israeli BBQ" entails, we went into our meal pretty clueless, but overall was very impressed by our experience.

ESH is located above urban outfitters and has a cool industrial/loft feel to it. The bar is one section and then you go up a few steps to the main dining area, where you can also see the big grill. Drink selection was good—cocktails, beer, and wine for different tastes and reasonable prices—and the wait staff was friendly, professional, and attentive throughout.

For food, we opted to try the avocado-cucumber-fried chick pea appetizer (outstanding!!!), the poutine (fantastic!), and the shawarma beef (well done, but paled in comparison to the other two). The flavors and spices of the app and the poutine were incredible—not like anything I've tasted before.

Overall we were very happy with our experience and will recommend this restaurant to others. They accept reservations on open table, however we went close to when they opened and didn't need one. Worth a visit!
