YUM! The tacos are awesome! Its hard to park, but its worth the trip. The value is hard to beat. Everything I've ever had has been awesome!
This place serves solid Mexican food, everything was fresh and authentic. I was very impressed though by the spicy chicken soup. It had a nice kick and included whole drum and breast pieces, just like mom used to make at home.
Waitress very nice and polite, and bill came out under $30 for a ton of food. Enough for a big lunch the next day. Come here when you need your rice and bean fix. They also have a couple varieties of red and green sauces that are vary in spicyness.
I heard it used to be much better with the old chef, but I think it still ranks up there in quality and taste.
We got off the subway hungry and were happy to spot this place. I was happy with my tacos. They were really stuffed, so I ended up only making it half way through my meal.
So after my last review it took me quite some time to get over the incident that happened, but once my husband began complaining that we hadn't had any food from here for a while, I decided to give in and give them another try. Since then we've visited the restaurant (rather than ordering) twice and both experiences were great. I've never had an issue with the food – it's always been consistently delicious, and it's one of the best places to get authentic Mexican food in the Bronx. I've had their tacos, quesadillas, burritos, chimichangas, tortas, fajitas and other entrees and I've never had a complaint about the quality of the food. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. The prices are also amazing for the quality AND quantity of food that you get.
I've only ever tried one cocktail from here. On the side of the table I noticed a little card advertising their cucumber cilantro margaritas and being a tequila lover I couldn't resist – and I'm so glad I didn't! It's delicious! It's probably going to be *the* drink I get whenever I visit. Refreshing, not too sweet, with a little kick from the chili powder on the rim – perfect.
Both in house visits were pleasant. Our waitresses were nice and service was timely. Their bathroom was very clean which is something I always love to see in a restaurant. At this point I can say that I forgive the incidents from my last review; sometimes there are tough nights where it's easy for misunderstandings to occur. I've also made orders to my apartment since then that have arrived on time with no issue. With all of these positive experiences recently, I had to update my review.
Probably one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. They use fresh ingredients and their dishes are bursting with flavor. Their spicy guacamole sauce is out of this world. Can't go wrong with the chicken tacos!
This location is the best I've tried thus far; I've only tried one other but this location has better food, in my opinion.
The first time we came here was after a long day of walking for a cause and by my friend's suggestion, I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas de Camarones, shrimp enchiladas with a silky green cream sauce. They were served with rice and beans and as always, the condiments for the table. They were so good. Hubby stuck with what he knows and had Steak Fajitas which were plentiful and very good.
Our second time was recent, for the same friend's birthday dinner and this time I went with Steak and Shrimp Fajitas and hubbs got a Chicken Chimichanga, which was HUGE! The outside was so crispy and it full of chicken, rice and goodness. He didn't think he'd be able to finish but he took it down.
This location never disappoints but be forewarned to make note of the servers that make your drinks correct and good because not all of them do so, you wanna keep that in mind. The kitchen, however, is always on point.
Why is their salsa so delicious?!
And their portions so big?!
And their prices so low?!
I love Estrellita Poblana. It's a shining jewel in the desert that is Westchester Square. Part of me wishes they'd buy out the other restaurants and make one super dining room. The food is fresh, authentic, and flavorful. The atmosphere is also great: warm, friendly, and bright. I think I reviewed them before but put the wrong location.
Their enchiladas and burritos are delicious with the little mini-buffet of sauces they give you, but… DAT SALSA!
Brotip: their margaritas are cheap, cheap, cheap! $6.50 for a classic.
Definitely the best Mexican I've had in the area. Very reasonably priced and delicious.
Guacamole and chips were great. Although the guac was a little creamier than I like (bring on the chunks!), it still had a great, fresh flavor. All the food we got was delicious…my favorite was definitely the Lengua soft taco…so good. All the sauces they brought out were great and everything was super fresh.
Took home some flan for dessert. Not sure how authentic it was, I'm no expert, but still delicious. I recommend it.
