The pizza is so so, no real wow factor. The price is economical but I really wish there was a wow factor, I had a slice with BBQ sauce, chicken and 2 different cheeses. The garlic knots needed a little butter as well.
Meh. Lapin and I walked into this pizzeria last night for two slices. The staff behind the counter ignored us for a bit and one was eating pizza while taking our order. Guy, put the slice down or let someone else take our order. The slices were $2 a pop and mediocre at best. The menu talks about using local ingredients but to be honest I couldn't taste anything spectacular.
FYI – he didn't wash his hands after eating and used the same hand to touch our pizza and money. I am not sure if you can bring outside beverages/food as one guy behind us was drinking Tropical Fantasy soda from a black bag and no one said anything to him (he was siting right in front of the cashier).
Aight so the guys here are cool, meaning jive enough to provide good service and down enough to run a not-so-typical pizza joint, meaning this pizza joint is different than most. For one thing I love the layout of the restaurant. For another, I love the fact that they have two arcade games from previous eras. Lastly, I love the fact that it's pretty darn spacious. The service is quick too; in and out in less than five minutes with pizza in hand.
You pretty much can't do pizza badly in Brooklyn. You also have to do something really special to stand out. Evil olive hits the mark. I wish I had a second stomach to eat even more Evil Olive Pizza. This place is like a mullet , business in the front and party in the back. You will find pizza place in front, and bar in back.
Margarita pizza == incredible. We had a pizza special that night, it had artichokes and my heart skipped a beat when I ate it….
Great beer selection! REALLY GREAT STAFF.
I can't speak for the bar in the back (yes, there is a bar in the back!) – I've only gotten pizza here. And WOW is it great pizza. Highly recommended if you live/are in the area. The guys working are super friendly, and it doesn't take long at all. Must visit in the area!
For the record, we got a large veggie pizza (the one with lettuce on top). It was under $20 – so definitely affordable!
I ordered a slice of their Margherita and a Pepperoni. The slices were pretty good. Customer service was friendly and the place has a very hip/chill ambiance. My one tip would be to bring cash. They have an ATM inside the store, but I was a little hesitant to use it (based on how it looked). $10 minimum for credit card! 🙂
This place has slowly been transforming from an empty nightclub in a neighborhood pizzeria for the better part of three years. (I mean, there were some pretty rapid changes, then a period of rest, but really it's seemed like something of a process to the very casual observer.) And well, I've wanted to check it out for some time, but never really could work up the energy.
You see, there's a wonderful neighborhood pizzeria two blocks away called Williamsburg Pizzeria, which is truly just delightful. Right outside my door is a place called Danny's Pizzeria, which is pretty dire but does meet the "pizza within 100 yards" test. And Roberta's delivers to my house. So what's the point of a place that serves ordinary looking slices and isn't downstairs?
Nine months, I stopped in to use the bathroom. Six months ago, I bought a Coke. And finally, the other day, I actually had a slice of pizza.
The verdict? It's fine! Totally normal, New York pizza. The sauce could be more flavorful and there's no good char underneath but I certainly wouldn't kick this out of bed. There are also great pizza and beer specials, so you could drag a few friends here on the cheap. A viable option for the area, if hardly the most exciting.
Pizza is very good. Classic New York Pizza place. Not a pantheon of new Brooklyn preciousnesses here. Which doesn't mean the pizza and service ain't excellent.
I go for the regular pie. And am never disappointed.
