“I was uber envious of the french toast on many surrounding tables, but we suppressed our urge to over indulge (and chose to over indulge in more drinks instead).”

“Note: there is a nice seating area outside right by the street, perfect for people watching.”

“a great side to all of these dishes is the french fries with the gorgonzola fondue.”

  1. Such a fantastic time!   From Dante at the bar, with his fabulous drinks and easy conversation, to the delicious food, we had a great experience.

I had the two tequila cocktails–the Jagger and the spicy margarita–and enjoyed them both very much.

We shared the sliders and the tartar to start, and my friend had the cod and I the mahi mahi for our main courses.   Everything was super tasty.  The service was good.

    Will absolutely be back.

  2. Can't believe it took me so long to visit this place – I've passed it a million times. Unfortunately the day I came it was too rainy to eat outside, but my party of three did get a table for brunch right away. I had the French toast with an iced coffee, and tried the huevos rancheros and basque scramble. My French toast was amazing – definitely adding to my list of the best in the city. The iced latte looked super fancy in its tall glass and was pretty decent. The other dishes were also excellent! Highly recommended.

Grab a matchbook on your way out – the matches have bright pink tips! So cute.

  3. 5 star for the vibe, 4 star for the food. They need to work a bit on syncs- my friend has finished her dish but mine is not out yet. It makes my friend feel very uncomfortable to eat in front of a hangery me :p

  4. Extra Virgin is not a must-go, or a no-frills, or anything that really stands out in particular. But it is a nice neighborhood spot with decent bites on the menu, and a place to catch up with friends.

The drinks are strong though a tad expensive. One tasty raspberry mojito in and I was already slurring my words. The waitress recommended the Fritto Misto which is a fried medley of seafood and zucchini–delicious sounding, but fell off the mark somewhat. The calamari was in pieces and I was convinced it was mostly fried air. This was for sure a miss.

What WAS actually tasty–the medium cooked salmon with truffle mashed potatoes–it was served with a delicious sauce that complemented the dish well, and I would highly recommend. The lobster ravioli was also good, but I could barely tell there was any lobster in it. All in all, for a place toting a primarily seafood-based menu, I expected more than what was given. I think Extra Virgin has a lot more potential than was shown.

  5. Another win for the Village. While I've seen a long line here for brunch, my party had a lucky Sunday, and were seated immediately when we came in at 11:30 AM. There's a fun energy inside and while the space isn't huge, there's quite a bit of seating. For brunch, we tried the banana French toast and the mini Lobster rolls. The French toast was impressive, the perfect mix of gooey and crispy. The mini Lobster rolls were small, but surprisingly filling. While they were good, I probably wouldn't order again. The rest of the menu looked tasty, and I'll definitely be back here again.

  6. We just happened upon this little place when exploring West Village. We were originally only looking for a place to have a glass of wine, but when they sat us down ahead of larger groups with reservations, we felt obligated to order something off the menu to share.

The restaurant was tiny, with two rooms and a bar. It is lit by candlelight, making it a great place for a date. I'm almost certain that my friend and I were the only two tourists in the place, as there were large parties there for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

We both had a glass of Pinot Grigio for $8, the cheapest drink on the menu. We then ordered the Smoked Bacon Wrapped Scallops appetizer to share. My friend had never had scallops before, but she loved them just as much as I did! They were truly fantastic! Bacon, of course, is always good, but it gave the scallops a lovely smokey flavor. There were only 3 scallops, but they were served over horseradish mashed potatoes, which were excellent and a small salad with red wine/balsamic vinaigrette with grapes.

We can only imagine that the food was just as fantastic! Highly recommended!

  7. I like the ambiance and creativity of the restaurant, but I thought the food was pretty overrated. I ordered a falafel salad, and I had a bite of my friend's herb chicken (Thursday special). The falafel salad was a good mix of flavors, but nothing super special especially from a restaurant with a Mediterranean theme. My friend said his herb chicken was good, and the bite I had was enjoyable – I liked the risotto that it came with. The onion on top was a little over the top, but to each their own. We also got a side of the brussels sprouts which was a lot smaller than you'd think given how much it costs. They were also pretty mediocre – I didn't like how small the sprouts were and how they looked like they were thrown messily into a small bowl. Maybe the other entrees are better here – everything I ordered and tried was just overpriced for what they were.

  8. Had a great experience here for a last minute brunch on Saturday with my sister. There was about a 30 min wait to sit outside, so we chose to be seated immediately inside.

I would definitely come back for brunch. I also hear dinner is good, so I will have to check that out.

    RESTAURANT OVERVIEW:
-A few tables outside in the front, larger seating areas inside, and a nice, big bar. Tables are fairly close to one another (common in the area).
-Good for a group, or one on one, and I imagine it would be good for a date as well

    FOOD:
-Extra Virgin Salad: I'm not a huge salad eater when I go out to eat, but this was damn delicious. Fresh avocado, grape tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, arugula, and very light and flavorful dressing. Came with a slice of grilled bread (I think it was a sourdough, or something similar and thick) Get this to start!!
    – Oregano Roasted Chicken Sandwich: This was great to share. It's a fairly large bite with the thick bread, chicken, and avocado – but it was good nonetheless. Comes with the cucumber yogurt on the side, which is very mild. I spread this on one of my bread halves.

    DRINKS:
-Bloody Mary: Good, but could have been spicier for me personally. Comes with a celery stick, but no other garnishes.
