F. Ottomaneli Burgers & Belgian Fries
“Made with fresh meat from their family owned butcher shop a few doors down, you will never taste a fresher burger.”
“Believe it or not, I'd rank it one of the top burgers I've had – better than Corner Bistro, Shake Shack, Donovan's, even DB Modern Bistro.”
“I ordered an 8oz cheeseburger, tons of toppings and side of fries, and I wasn't disappointed.”

I got lured in by the "belgian fries" part of F. Ottomaneli's name, but ultimately it was the burger that had me waddling out impressed.
This is my fault, but I didn't do any Yelp snooping beforehand, so I had no idea that 1) this place makes all of its own patties and various other ingredients/foods, and 2) the specialty burgers are blended into the patty itself instead of just adding toppings. Ignorance aside, I got the jalapeno cheddar burger with lettuce and tomato, as well as an order of fries. I started doubting my ability to finish all this food comfortably AS I ORDERED IT, but I felt I deserved it (and there's a $10 minimum credit card charge requirement). Those two things plus a drink totaled around $11.
They do quite a few takeout orders, I'm guessing especially on a Friday night, so my food took a while to come out. The first thing I noticed when my order came through was definitely the fries, which were stacked in a glorious cone which itself comes with a metal stand/holder. In contrast, the burger was wrapped up in foil, and looked like an afterthought in my meal; to be fair, it was an afterthought for me. First impressions, however, are just that, and I soon found out the following:
– The fries leave quite a bit to be desired. They were bland, occasionally soggy, and not all the same temperature. I hardly ever use ketchup but I had to here to break up the monotony and internal sadness in my heart. These aren't the worst fries I've had, but I've certainly had better belgian-style ones, so I wouldn't order them again.
– The burger was an extremely pleasant surprise. Bun ratio was a bit off and I could do with a less thick upper bun, but the patty was as tasty as I've ever had. After biting in I could see bits of jalapeno inside the ground beef, and even better, I didn't feel overwhelmed by the cheddar. In fact, I got more of an essence of cheddar without actually seeing it visibly on or in the patty, and that works for me.
I can totally see myself coming back to F. Ottomaneli to try other specialty burgers. If they're anywhere near how delicious the jalapeno cheddar burger was, I'll be quite satisfied. I'll skip the fries, which might force me to order a shake to meet the minimum, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
I expected so much more from this place! I wanted to really love their burgers because this place is not that far from home and in a beloved neighborhood for me, but though the burger with onions was good, what ended up stealing the show was their strawberry milkshake. And the fries? Nothing to remember.
I liked the ambience of the restaurant. It is like a laid-back 70s restaurant. They have the same prices of McDonalds so that you can pay the same, but eat fresher. That idea is pretty cool.
The burgers at Ottomanelli's never fail to please me. I always come here when I'm around woodside and I'm craving a burger. I always get the bacon cheeseburger because the bacon & cheese are in the actual patty. On top of that they add cheese slice and any toppings you'd like. For $10.95 you get regular sized fries, a small drink (with refills) & a juicy single parties burger. The staff is also very very nice.
I give them 1 Star! If I could give them zero I would. The customer service is so lacking in this place that's it horrible. The owner is to busy talking with his daughter and checking text message then check the orders of people that have been waiting for 30mins for there food. It's a burger joint. You should never have to wait that long for food EVER!!!!
On to the food!!!!! What a waste of money dry as anything and no taste to the meat.
I had to throw it out!!!!!
It's such a shame, the meat from this place comes from there family butcher right up the block.
The butcher place runs smoothly like it should.
I've been here so many times already and I keep hoping that things may have improved but to my disappointment it's became worse.
Want a good burger and not a disappointment goto Donovan's up the block.
This burger is a treasure of Queens. The meat is excellent quality and the service is great.
Ottomaneli's burgers exists in my favorite area of eating out: affordable and real food that you don't have to wait or get a table for. This middle ground is one of reasons chipotle does so well.
Get some quality Belgian fries (a little salty) and enjoy one of the best burgers and buns in Queens
With about 6 large tables, I was able to come here my family and a couple of friends. The staff is really nice and friendly. They even have customer service review on your tray, so you can share your ideas, tips, and suggestions. The only pet peeve was that arriving on a busy Saturday evening means shortage on burger flavors. Last time I came, I got the roasted garlic flavor and it was awesome.
The meat in the burger is pretty delicious and fresh, and the fries are great too. However, everything else besides that was lackluster. Bread and other toppings on burgers tasted a bit stale, wilted, and "came out of a box" vibe. The shakes also taste like it was made from some kind of powdered mix and very artificial.
Service was slow – routinely saw cooks (you can see partially into the kitchen/grill) and servers chitchatting or even having small arguments right in front of the customers, which isn't great. I also think it's a leetle bit overpriced considering the quality of the food. Take off a few dollars, guys.
Up the service and rest of the food to match that amazing patty, please.
Definitely fresh and good quality. The burgers are tasty and the milkshakes are great. I do not care for the Belgian fries. However it is pretty expensive here. For my family of three we spend at least 40 something dollars. The place is clean and the staff are friendly.
