This place is a farce. They sent me old chicken soup stock with chicken and chicken bones in it, told me it was vegetarian and dare to call it a vegetable tagine. Please Google tagine if you haven't seen it and look at this pile of poo they sent me. Even my dogs aren't getting this. Oh and DH's chicken sandwich had a hair in it. He's throwing up now. Rotten place. Avoid.
Cute little place with good service and traditional Middleastern cuisine. I was actually not hungry, so while my boyfriend enjoyed his Lamb and Beef Shawarma, I nibbled on Tabbouleh salad and pita. I would love if they provide some Hummus or other sauce for the pita or served it warm, but it was still good. The Tabbouleh was good, but not what I have expected. It was essentially a parsley salad with a tiny bit of quinoa. The seasoning was good, as well as the tomato and onion, but it was definitely an overwhelming dish and for a small dish, I could only finish half. I would definitely try it again because the service was friendly and the establishment is cute with outdoor seating. Would like to give more menu items a try so I can adequately evaluate. of note, they have a Moroccan restaurant adjoining owned by the same people and I would love to try there.
Let me explain my 5 star rating. I feel like I need to defend it right away. It gets 5 stars from me because of customer service and its running streak of never disappointing me.
Everytime I go there – for either pick-up or dine-in – I'm always greeted, seated, attended to, and taken care of. I never have to ask for a refill or water or Moroccan iced tea. The smiles and welcoming gestures are genuine. And the food is always on point (delicious!). Hospitality is a big deal in Morocco and Falafel-ly has got hospitality down pat, perfected.
Plus, I love going here and sitting in the lounge. If only I could bring my hookah there, I'd be all set. I highly recommend Falafel-ly Yours.
In terms of what to order, here are items that I would order:
_ falafel sandwich with sweet potato file
_hummus
_ baba ghanoush
_that salad combo
_kibbeh (when I ate beef)
Ok, my taste buds just had an orgasm. Everything about this place is delightful. From the rich fabulous Moroccan decor, the low brass tables and fabric draped walls, casbah lounge chic all tastefully done. It has a warm cozy feeling.
There were five us. Three carnivores and two vegetarians. We started with pita, baba ghanouj, salad, all which were excellent. Main courses were, falafel, beef and lamb shawerma, lamb chops, tabouleh salad, fuul medames, and a lentil soup. Myself as one of the meat eaters was able to sample everything. It seriously was an explosion of well blended, perfectly seasoned tastes.
The server was also the owner. He was amazing, friendly, offered suggestions and was completely, genuine. We will be returning but probably on a Friday evening to also see the bellydancers. Five stars all the way… I wish I lived closer.
I was very excited to try to this place as a nearby lunch option for work. I loved the owner's story on the restaurant's website and their dedication to organic ingredients. However, I was disappointed with my take out order.
To start, I had the Kibbeh, Grape Leaves, and Hummus. The Kibbeh, made with ground lamb and beef, cracked wheat, and pecans was well-seasoned, moist, and delicious. However, the Grape Leaves were a little too loosely filled with rice, garlic, and seasoning. They had a nice, typical lemon flavor but were literally swimming in oil. The Hummus was a bit too smooth in texture and almost liquidy. Its taste was unpleasantly unexpected, in that it had some chick pea and tahini essence but mixed with something bland.
For an entree, I tried the Beef and Lamb Shawerma- marinated and accompanied by rice, onions, tomatoes, and pita bread. Overall, flavor was lacking and the beef and lamb were super dry. I also had some French Fries (seasoned with cilantro and cayenne) and they were satisfying.
For dessert, I had the Baklava Sampler Platter which came with 2 squares and 1 "finger" of baklava and one square of Kanafa with Pistachio which were just okay in texture and flavor.
Like many reviewers, I agree that a middle eastern restaurant like this is a welcome addition to the area, and I was really psyched to try it.
the good: the place is cute, had nice decor, and the staff was friendly and had good service.
the bad: well, the food was average at best. I had two things: a falafal sandwich and a lamb shawerma. I wanted Israeli salad on the falafal sandwich, but they didn't have it, so I got the standard lettuce, tomato w/ tahini sauce. The falafal balls were kinda dry and mealy and the whole sandwich was dry as they skimped on the tahini. The shawerma's meat was nicely seasoned but overlooked and dry, again with skimpy tahini and an overall dry sandwich. Since the sandwiches were dry, they didn't hold together like they usually do, and everything was falling out as I ate it. Don't get me wrong… It wasn't horrible. It's just that I'm used to so much better that I won't be going back. I thought about maybe going back to try something else, but since I ordered what should be the specialty here, what else should I try? Too bad… This area could really use a good middleastern / falafal joint.
My waitress was very pleasant. She was informative about items on the menu.
Even tho it is small, it seems as tho this place gets a lot of traffic.
My date ordered for me. I had the chicken tawook (sp?).
It was basically grilled chicken that tasted like lemon. It was good. Grilled to perfection. I had white and green squash with roasted red pepper. I wish they had more vegetables on the plate.
Yellow rice. That was good, but I couldn't finish it because it was too much.
I got dessert to go. Baklava (sp?) Which was very good!
First time here after voting on this spot. I have to say the layout and decor of it I really like. We missed the belly dancing but I think that is a cool part of dining here. We got the tangrine perch and tangrine lamb sausage. The perch was good, but they could've out more sauce, most of it was gone before we could taste the flavor of it. The sausage was good but not great. We also had the Everything appetizer which was nice with a variety dips and veggies, but a bit high at $20 when maybe two of the best appetizers would've been fine with some falafel. So overall the food was decent but what hurt my impressions of this spot was our waiter, he was way too overbearing. He wasn't just insisting on the specials and appetizer it was almost a demand. We showed disinterest in his suggestions for the specials which is the above mentioned but he just kept pushing for it and so as much as he hyped it all up we reluctantly agreed on it so as I put, the food was ok but I feel would've been better if we weren't seemingly pushed into ordering it. Ok food, service needs some work.
