I had a great time stopping by this unique and cozy neighborhood place in the Williamsburg part of Brooklyn. It is a newer place in the area but it does have a lot of potential. The interiors are cool, the food and alcohol selctions are great, and the service is top notch. The appetizers we had were excellent. I would recommend the meatballs and smoked trout to start. The 1930 Salad was also very good…loaded with bacon, sweet tomatoes, avocado and blue cheese. I can't wait to go back and sit on the second story outside level which had a really nice vibe but was too cold when we were there. Will definitely go back when I visit NY again!
Fun bar that's great for drinks or dinner. The space is really cool and I would be interested in coming back when the rooftop is open. I came with a group of 6 for dinner on Friday night around 8. We were seated without a reservation in one of the roomy booths at the back. We had several rounds of drinks (the basil lemonade is particularly deadly!) and a variety of main dishes: burger, mussels, fish and chips, grain bowl, etc. I think everyone's favorite part of the bar was the music! Great playlist that set a great mood. Prices are very reasonable too!
Pros:
1) Good decor – plenty of room with an upstairs and downstairs area
Cons:
1) Very spotty – bad service. The wait staff was absent at random times when we were ready to order, it was so hard to get the bartendar's attention, and she even forgot to charge us and closing out the tab was a nightmare
2) Horrible ventilation – it was a hot day when we visited and virtually no a.c./fans or anything in the upstairs portion. I was fried – sunny side up.
In terms of the important things like the food and drinks. We ordered a few things and the food was not memorable and bland. Obviously this is one of those trendy spots you go to for the vibe and not as much for quality of food/drinks, but considering service was so bad, I don't think this was worth it at all. I don't frequent Williamsburg often, but judging by the location there are plenty of places in the area that have better food/drinks/service/ and as good of an atmosphere if not better.
