  1. Worst pizza I've had in New York City … was in Famous Original Ray's Pizza. This busy pizza joint just off Times Square should really be renamed to Infamous Ray's Pizza, cause it was T to the E to the R-R-IBLE.

Pizza by the slice was the choice for Olivia Z. and me. I got a Cheese Slice and she got a Meaty Combo. The cardboard crust, slimy sauce, and cowardly cheese on the infamous slice of Ray's Pizza wasn't saved by crushed red pepper or my deep late-night desire to eat NY-style pizza. I ate half, tossed the rest, and headed out in search of pizza a little less famous, but a whole lot better.

  2. Our medium pizza was HUMONGOUS, THIN, CHEESY PACKED & A GREASE TRAP (all these being positive descriptors). However, we were charged twenty eight dollars for this medium cheese pizza as well as a beer which seems a leeeeettttllleeeee on the overpriced side. BUT, when in Rome right?

We got this as an over sized late night snack for 3 and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Worth the splurge when you want a nice thin crust slice for a few folks.

  3. Hubby and I had to get NYC style pizza before heading back home so we randomly stopped here.  The line to order and pay went by quickly but the only hitch was they went out of order when passing out the warmed pizzas.  The guy behind us got his before us just because his friends ordered ahead of us.  That is just bad customer service.  Since this was a random stop by we probably won't come back again even though the pizza was good.

  4. Ouch! Some of the reviews for this Ray's are a little harsh. I stop at this stop every time that I am in NYC, and I have always found their slices to be yummy and filling. Sure you're going to find better pie at John's Pizza or maybe even another Ray's, but the pizza here is a solid nauch any day of the week. And unlike some other joints, this place does serve up the pie at warp speed.

The guys behind the counter were also very friendly and helpful with my pizza selection. Pizza Supreme style is really the way to go if you want to get your money's worth.  All in all, you could really do worse than this Ray's. It's making me pizza hungry just thinking about it.

  5. Delicious and cheap. We arrived in NYC on a cold and rainy night. We were tired and hungry. We stumbled upon Ray's and it didn't disappoint. We both had a slice of pepperoni pizza. Loved it!!!

  6. Not too bad.

  7. Not sure if it was the 2am munchies talking or the heat exhaustion, but the pizza tasted AMAZING. The ham and pepperoni New York style slice was baked perfectly and the sauce tasted fresh. The only insane part was the price. ( 2 slices and 2 water bottles for $25!!). The physical space was small and seating was limited but, with Time Square around the corner many individuals grab their slices to go and eat on the street.

The slices are big and filling and the service was super quick.

If your craving late night pizza in Time Square, I would highly recommend indulging here.

  8. One of the must do's for me while visiting NYC this weekend was have a slice of their pizza.  I was in the Time Square vicinity and found Ray's on the Yelp scope.  I have heard of Ray's and many imitations in the past.  I chose two slices of combo pizza with a bottled water and my tab was a whopping $15!  I guess this is called NYC tourist pizza!  The texture and crust of the pizza was not very good and different than what I was expecting.  I actually saw the lower rating of this place but decided take a dive anyways.  Wish I could spring back from my dive!  I saw some other smaller pizza places around the Times square after advertising for pizza at lower prices.  I think you can do better in NYC for pizza but this place caters to the tourist who probably wont be back.
