  1. FARMER IN THE DELI IS THE BUSINESS AND IT'S HALAL!!!! The sandwiches are so addicting, like crack & rainbows sprinkled on it! It's cheap (under $5 for a packed foot long, take THAT subway!) and the lines are always LONGGGGG so make sure you have comfy shoes (:

  2. It's a hero!

There is a huge sweet spot in my heart for good bodega sandwiches, especially if it's available late night post midnight when I should be sleeping rather than seeking out food after enjoying the night out.

My friend and I were out and decided that we were going to starve to death by the morning if we didn't find food at 1 am before heading home. She suggested Farmer in the Deli after hearing about it's great reviews. All was well until she went to order turkey, cheese, blah, blah, blah on a long roll….What's a long roll? This is Brooklyn, so silence fell upon the bustling bodega and I was quickly reminded that my Brooklyn transport friend (from a place where they say hoagies) had just outed herself to all of the locals within earshot. This started a 10 minute conversation, between us and the amazing late night bodega worker as we set out to change my friend's verbal references to heros rather than long rolls.

On to my hero: Perfectly soft bread, all of the new boar head turkey options that I recently saw on a commercial- jerk turkey inspired by the jerk chicken of Jamaica had to try it – and lots of cheese options. This store also offers all of the standard items of any other bodega, but the highlight is truly the sandwich options. They take credit card too and I believe I may have even seen an ATM onsite.

Needless to say, I had a very enjoyable late night feast when I got home. I love heros!

  3. I went here for lunch with a friend during our lunch break at work. It looks like any other convenience shop both inside and outside (no bells and whistles here!) but my friend insisted I would not be disappointed. We waited in a decent sized line before placing our orders. They had three guys working that build your sandwich right in front of you (no assembly lines). They have a ton of turkey, roast beef, chicken, and other delicious cold cuts to order, with your choice of bread-cheese-veggies-condiments.  The sandwiches are enormous and the meat is piled on an inch thick minimum. Bear in mind that when you order anything here (meat, cheese, condiment) it comes with a lot…maybe be important to note if you just want a tiny bit of mayo or something. The cold cuts taste especially fresh and flavorful. We saw someone get a chopped sandwich (where turkey was chopped right in front of her with various veggies and a sauce and then put right on the sandwich) which looked unique and delicious!

There isn't anywhere to eat in here but we found a bench nearby to chow down as much of our big sandwiches as our bellies could handle. Would be a good place to grab sandwiches to bring to Fort Greene park, just another two or three blocks down Myrtle.

  4. I heart this deli! It's located by my workplace, so I stop in often for delicious, well-made and priced sandwiches. I usually get pastrami heated, so good!  I occasionally brave the school children before 8 AM and get a bacon, egg and cheese. Also, well made. I appreciate that there isn't too much egg or bacon on their breakfast sandwiches. This place is popular at lunch time, so come early to beat the crowd.

  5. When you grow up in Brooklyn & live right down the block from the best deli sandwich in Brooklyn…life is just amazing!

Honey turkey, amer. cheese, lettuce, pickles, mayo, salt & pepper, & oil & vinegar on a roll… was and still is my staple sandwich.

When I get the urge for a real deli sandwich under $5..I will put myself in my car and drive over to my childhood neighborhood and wait on that crazy long line for true satisfaction.

  6. Am I ordering the wrong thing? Don't get me wrong the sandwich tastes like a sandwich, and all, but to loudly proclaim it's the great thing ever is overkill.

Again, the sandwich tasted…like a sandwich.

This place is maddening because of the other people in line. Everyone is screaming at the deli people about the number of tomatoes on their sandwich, or "NOT TOO MUCH MAYO" or how to cut it, or the color the meat should be, or because a fly just landed on the table that all the sandwiches "HAVE TO BE REMADE!"

EVERYONE – SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. QUIET. IT'S. GOING. TO. BE. OKAY.

Also, Deli Man, if you get a tip or you're handling money, you gotta put on a new plastic glove. Handling money with a plastic glove defeats the purpose of the glove.

  7. I was excited to try a sandwich here. Would it live up to the hype???

My friend and I ventured here. We were both set on bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. Well…the grill closed at noon, they don't have pork, and they were out of cheddar. I got a roast beef sandwich on croissant with muenster, mustard, and tomato. She got a turkey sandwich on croissant with mayo, lettuce, and tomato. The sandwiches were piled with meat. We had waited in line for a long time. Then we headed to the park. Then I opened up my sandwich. It looked amazing. And took a bite. Succulent, the perfect amount of each ingredient, all of which were fresh. AMAZING!!!

  8. I'm not sure how and why these sandwiches are so good , since most of the other stores in the area use  the same brands. I assume these sandwiches are tasty due to the packing. I noticed that they put the condiments and toppings on first , then they add tons of thinly sliced cold cuts . Either way the sandwiches receive 5 stars from me!
