  1. Filomena's is tucked away on a small side street off Paterson Plank Road.

What caught my eye, there had only been three reviews and all five stars.  Well….  I won't break the trend.  Stopped by today for lunch and ordered the Pisano Hero to go.  It is a huge sandwich filled with Ham, cappacole, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers and choice of spread. I chose the pesto. The other choices are black olive spread and roasted pepper spread.

This is the most mozzarella I have had on any sandwich ever.

They have daily hot and cold specials and offer catering.  Delivery is available Monday through Friday 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

If you work in Secaucus or are in the area you really should check them out. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. There are about 15 tiny tables if you care to dine in and have the time.

Parking is street only but I was able to find a small lot across the street and was done pretty quickly.

  2. Consider yourself forewarned, this spot might just put your kitchen out of business.

Stopped in randomly for lunch. Business was steady with locals at the deli counter, and the kitchen was cranking out food at a frantic pace. I ordered a daily special, sesame crusted tuna. The friendly gentleman who took my order told me it would be "about 8 minutes". 8 minutes later, a gigantic portion of fresh, beautifully seared sushi grade tuna on a bed of greens with tomatoes, red peppers and house made lemon garlic dressing was delivered to my table. They need to raise their prices. This dish was a steal at 8.95.

On my way out the door, I grabbed a few rice balls filled with prosciutto and mozzarella, some zucchini fritters, and a sandwich I had sampled during my 8 minute wait with pork cutlet, avocado, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle salsa. Man oh man, they know their way around a rice ball. And the pork cutlet sandwich? Genius!  My total for all those take out items was a measly 17 bucks. Seriously, they need to raise their prices.

Now that I've found filomena's, my stomach is happy and my stove is collecting dust.

  3. Pretty good quick little deli. I had the chicken hero, meant to order it with chicken cutlet but forgot to say that like an idiot… Came with grilled chicken and it was really tasty. Their bread is absolutely amazing. That's hard to find at most places!

Service is fast and friendly, seating area is a little cramped but it is a small deli. You can also tell that they got most of their chairs from Quiznos since they still have the Q on the back of them but overall I would recommend this spot

  4. I thought this place was nice. Solid but not really amazing.

It's a small deli, street parking, and a small seating area. I found it a little confusing where you order and where you pay and ended up in the wrong line. I ordered the Filomena's Hero (ham, salami, mozzarella, toppings) and it was a fine sandwich, but I mostly tasted bread over the meat and cheese. It was a perfectly decent sandwich, but it's not the best deli sandwich I've had, so A-OK sounds about right.

They also have a minimum $10 for credit card, so I ordered a turnover to meet the minimum. That was pretty good. So overall, if you are in the area, a fine place for lunch, but I wouldn't recommend driving out of your way for it.
