Since I returned to work in FIDI I have been hitting the Hanover Square food trucks with regularity. This truck which, I think is new, has been excellent. I have only had the pork bibimbap rice bowl with egg which I really like. The flavors are nice and they pop. My only complaint is the egg which should be runnier so you can break the yolk. Each time I have had it the egg was closer to a fried egg. Must be popular since many items were out by the time I got there at 1:30. Big yellow truck with rice bowls, tacos, and burritos. Pork, Beef, Chicken and veggie (tofu) options. Nice hardworking crew. Check them out
Right off Hanover sq, there are a lot of food trucks to choose from. I was in a rush on lunch break, and I wanted something really good but could not decide on what. I saw this Korean BBQ food truck and did not check yelp or anything, and just hoped it would be good. There was someone in line in front of me, but there wasn't a line like other food trucks near here. That should have been my sign.
I chose the bibimbap bowl with sesame chicken, rice, and kimchi. I was excited, I love sesame chicken and I love kimchi! I paid $11 + tax….that's a lot to me from a food truck, but I figure it would be worth it.
I walked to a nearby spot and when I opened the lid I was insanely disappointed. The chicken was not sesame chicken at all, it was bits of dark meat with no flavor or seasoning. There was no kimchi! It was slivers of veggies like carrots, and cucumber…with spicy mayo on top! I mean the color was of spicy mayo, but it did not even taste like that…I can't confirm what it was but it was just a sauce on top… You know what was good about my bowl? The rice. It was cooked perfect. Ha. That's all that was good about this $11+ tax bowl…the damn rice.
I got my bowl on 12/28/15, and I had no idea where I got the bowl from because as I said I did not check yelp, I forgot the name of the food truck. I just went back today JUST to get the name of the food truck place so I can warn everyone….you will not get authentic korean food from this truck.
Not a fan! At all! For $10 from a food truck, I expect something that was at least twice the size of the Spicy Short Rib Burrito that I overpaid for and begrudgingly ate this afternoon. Again, the size issue, they use a gigantic tortilla which gets folded over about three times, and they didn't even properly grill or steam or heat the tortilla, so it was a lot of layers of dry chewy tortilla, with little filling! And what filling their actually was, was undercooked dry rice, and a little bit of sugary meat… No thanks, never again.
