Fisherman’s Cove

“I recommend the Jerk chicken with both jerk and BBQ sauce the sauce does not cover up the smokiness of the chicken), rice and peas with oxtail gravy and the veggies (whatever they may be at the time.”

“They make it with tons and tons of cheese on top and in a smallish pan so the whole thing is topped with crusty brown goodness but it still has a nice melty center .”

  1. It was OK.

I had a small oxtail with rice and peas. It was mediocre, the oxtail seemed pretty bland and I didn't enjoy it much. Maybe it was because it was the end of the night or Oxtail isn't their forte. I saw a lot people ordering the Jerk Chicken and I presume that is what they are know for. I didn't know that prior to entering but now I know. I guess try it and see what you think. There's no harm in that.

  2. Terrible service. They don't value customers. I came 20 minutes before they closed and asked for jerk chicken. One of the workers (hopefully not the manager even though he had the loudest mouth) said it was $6. When I went to hand the cashier my money ($10 bill) she said, this isn't $6. I said no, I only have $10. The guy says, I asked you if you had $6. I said on I misunderstood you. I didn't know you were asking if I had $6 exact. He said they had closed the registers. I said oh ok I didn't know that's what you meant. Then this disrespectful man starts yelling and says " I didn't ask if you had $10. I asked if you had $6" and a few other words but by that time I walked out. I refuse to spend my money in an establishment that doesn't respect their customers. He was beyond rude. Other people had told me the workers in this location were rude but I hadn't experienced for myself. As a business owner in the area, I was highly disappointed and will never support this establishment again. Invest your money in businesses that respect who keeps them in business— the customer.

  3. How could I complain about this place. Tasty comfort West Indian food. AMAZING PRICES! Friendly and funny staff. pick up your food to go. So what the lines are long? Duh! That's a good thing. That means the food is great. Only place I go to when I want Jerk chicken. Supported you guys since I was a college student at Bklyn College back in 2008. Now you have numerous sites open. Keep up the good work and the community will always support this establishment

  4. I often pass by here as I'm cruising down eastern parkway and the line is always out the door. For that reason I thought oh this place HAS to be great! so I made a stop.

Now don't get me wrong the food is great but I realized that the line is out the door because this place is basically a closet ! lol very tiny and not much room to do anything.

I live by the phrase "you're not you when you're hungry" and if this is also you and you get really irritable, I would recommend grabbing a snickers at the corner store while you wait for your food because the amount "excuse me's" (there is not much room to move honey) and bumps is enough to bring the most delightful person out of character. Nevertheless, this is a great place to get your Jamaican food fix and the jerk chicken was delicious!

  5. This place is tiny and a certified hole in the wall. It can only for five or six people at a time, hence the line out the door. But it is well worth it. This is our new spot for oxtails.

We ordered large oxtails with rice ($14). Now, plenty of places in Brooklyn skimp when it comes to serving oxtails, even when you order a large. Not Fisherman's Cove. The price is well worth it because you get A LOT of food. I defy anyone to eat the whole thing in one sitting. You can't. That portion yielded three meals. They were perfectly seasoned, tender and absolutely delicious. When the nice lady asks if you want gravy, say yes because trust me, you do. Can't wait to go back and try the jerk chicken that everyone is raving about.

Do not bother calling here. I tried calling one afternoon to see if they were still open and, getting no answer, assumed that they were closed. I see now that they didn't answer because it's a three person operation and all three of them are cooking. Don't even know where this alleged phone is  cause I didn't see it.

This is all you need to know: expect a line out the door; bring cash because they don't take cards; be prepared to order when it's your turn, and don't be skittish about the tight enclosed space. You'll be rewarded with great food, and you will love this place as we now do.

  6. The place is a bit smal inside but the food seems good. I only tried their 6$ Jerk chicken once and it was great. The staff were full flegded Jamacians so not much communication other than" Hi i want to get the …. and thank you. They got strong accents. Over all their Jerk is statisfying.

  7. BEST jerk chicken you will find in NYC. (Make sure you request the bbq sauce.)

You'll have enough food for days. Grab the medium with rice & beans with gravy, and plantains.

Not feeling chicken? The curried goat is delicious and the oxtail is so great that they run out early almost every day.

  8. This review is for the New location  at 1420 Rockaway in Carnarsie. I must say, I've always enjoy the food at fisherman cove. I like the Jerk chicken, which I buy all the time. This is my second time visiting this new location, it is not well organized. Which I am surprised because most of the employees there, I recognize from the Nostrand Ave location. Today I must say I was very disappointed when I brought my jerk chicken home and it was not well cooked.  Not only did i have to wait almost 40 minutes for the food..understanding it a busy Friday evening but no excuse for rushing and selling uncooked food. Very disappointing!!!
