Yes Five Guys is a chain restaurant, but what a chain restaurant! You can have all the toppings you want and their standard burger comes with two patties. In addition they top off your fries order with an extra scoop of fries AND they give away free peanuts while you wait for your made to order burger. Is it cheap? Not particularly but totally worth it and far better than a McDicks. This location is clean and VERY quite on a weekday during the lunch hour due to its location in the mall.
Our optometrist is located in College Point so we stopped off to have a burger for lunch with fries. I had the single burger my fiance had the double burger and both were pretty good. We ordered a small fries and we couldn't finish it so we took the rest home and ate them with our dinner! I've never done that! Its a hearty and decently healthy burger for a reasonable rate.
When I used to fly out of LGA, this space was occupied by a Wendy's. I went to New York recently, and had some time to spare at the airport. Imagine my surprise when I saw that Five Guys had taken over this spot.
It was like Wendy's on steroids! The choices were just phenomenal, and the fresh cut fries positively delicious! Have it your way…wait, that's already taken. Okay, build your burger, you won't be disappointed.
I can't help but dislike Five Guys more and more.
1. Prices aren't very appealing for a sloppy made burger.
– If they made a good quality burger for the same price, then I wouldn't complain but I feel like their burgers taste like grounded mush after they wrap it up.
2. Their hand cut fries kinda suck
3. They're pretty cheap with the toppings
4. Everything is cooked in peanut oil, some people can be allergic…
The good part is…
1. Parking lot
2. Free Peanuts
Verdict – I'm not a big fan.
A good old America burger joint. 5 guys smacks you with that classic taste the way it should taste vs burger king and McDonald's.
I'll choose 5guys any day, nothing beats a juicy burger with all the toppings.
I really have no complaints about this place. Everything tastes fresh and they never have soggy ass old fries. You always get a fresh batch of fries with your fresh tasting burger with free peanuts!
Parking lot is convenient and its never really crowded!
This place just rocks. Best low priced burgers I ever had. They are prepared in front of you and they really fill you up. The fries are not that good, but they seem natural at least. It's better than Shake Shack IMO.
Burger that taste like beef, and fries that taste like potatoes.
They fry the fries in peanut oil. I'd be sad if I had peanut allergies because these fries are among the best I've ever had. They are soft and creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I like that they leave the skin on too. Fries that actually taste like potatoes.
Wow, the patties actually taste like beef. I don't think they use any of that pink slime here. Stopped by after a cherry valley sandwich, on my Whitestone food crawl. I ordered a cheeseburger with double patties, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, grilled shrooms, pickles, jalapenos, hot sauce and ketchup. I love that the jalapenos are not pickled and fresh here.
Next time, I'll probably get the hot sauce and ketchup on the side because my burger buns became soggy and was sliding off my meat. My hands were slimy midway through my burger. Who wants saggy buns that can't hold onto your meat? You live and you learn.
