Hibachi or not, one of the best meals we've had on the UWS, period.”

  1. I ordered take out, but noticed that the restaurant is more upscale. Definitely not a "jean shorts and sneakers" kind of place.

The food was delicious! Ordered the shrimp tempura roll, which was probably the best I've ever had. I loved that they put a new spin on it using scallions. Really added flavor and pizazz. Also had the vegetable dumplings. Also amazing. I think this is the chef's own creation. It had corn and mushrooms and other veggies encased in a green wrap. With the dipping sauce, perfection.

The one thing I didn't like was that they charged me an extra $1.50 for unagi sauce. I really hate when restaurants do this. It seems like they're trying to nickel and dime you. It's like if people wanted to charge for ketchup (which they do in some countries in Europe).

  2. Incredible Asian Bistro! I have to mention that Yelp never let me down. I always like to search for Hot and New places to go because I really enjoy the diversity this city offers and searching for 4/4.5 star restaurants it's so much easier with Yelp.
So I found this amazing place which has great reviews so we gave it a shot.
It does not disappoint and even better, any dish that you are going to order is going to be spectacular.
I love having tapas and the variety of a menu that has everything to offer. From cold to hot, classic to modern, traditional to fusion, small to big, anything you like.
There are so many plates that you can order that it's quite overwhelming. Nonetheless, we made excellent choices and I'm sure next time I'll have different dishes to try everything although every single item we had was unbelievable.
The dim sum options are excellent so we had:
    – Pan Fried Pork Buns: delish!! With a sesame crust on the bottom. Perfectly cooked!
    – Crab shumai: the best ones I ever had! By far! So much crab and shrimp that you cannot believe it.
    – Scallion pancakes: it's a must in every Asian place that has it but this one is particularly delicious.

Then the cold and hot Asian tapas:
    – The guacamole and tuna tartare is super flavorful and it comes with wasabi/seaweed chips that are a great pairing for the spreads. A nice tweak on Asian fusion.
    – The Marinated Peach Ribs are a must! They melt in your mouth and even your hands. What a great dish that comes with a Korean Yam (very similar to Argentinian batata).

This place is so unique and original that I have to say it could be the best dim sum place I ever been to.
The prices are also a bargain. Everything we ordered was between $7-13 and the portions are bigger than a Spanish tapas place so great deal for the buck.
    Definitely a come back!

  3. Considering they've only been open for a couple of weeks, we had a very solid experience.  The service was attentive and organized.  They sat us at a grill quickly and someone came right over to take our drink order.

We ordered our food and shortly thereafter the hibachi chef came to start his show- his jokes were a bit cheesy and loud but he was fun and got the table going.

We ordered a few appetizers which were all flavorful and somewhat, but not overly, spicy.  The winner was the wild tuna tartare.  The food made on the hibachi was good although all tasted somewhat similar as the chef had a finite number of sauces and spices.  The sirloin was prepared as requested (medium) and the grilled salmon had a nice sear.  The chef made a couple of mistakes in our order but was quick to apologize and resolve them.

If we had this dining experience at a restaurant that had been open for a while, I probably would have given 3 stars but I think a little leeway is in order… Next time we go though, we will hope for a little more.

  4. Hibachi is always fun, and it's nice to have an option other than Benihana in the city. My friends and I were a large party of 9, which perfectly fit one hibachi table. Our server was so nice and our chef was really entertaining and talented. I thoroughly enjoyed the Filet Mignon and Shrimp combo along with an extra side of the Fried Rice, plus my usual glass of Prosecco (of course). I will definitely go back!
