Short version: a new neighborhood favorite. I'll be back for the coffee, interesting breakfast options, and charming atmosphere!
Long version: My fiance and I are new to Rockville Centre and constantly on the hunt for new cafes to try. After a long weekend of moving boxes and settling in to our new home, we brought his parents here for breakfast. From the moment we walked in, I started drooling over the macarons, mini breads and pastries in the case and knew that everything would be scrumptious. The cappuccino, featuring Stumptown Coffee from NYC, was delicious! For breakfast, I ordered the omelette with mushrooms, goat cheese, and caramelized onions. It was overstuffed, filling, and SO delicious. Other favorites included: french toast (with chocolate ganache), croque madame, and scrambled egg tartine. If you're looking for a farm-fresh breakfast, unique menu, and adorable atmosphere (lights made out of cheese graters and whisks), this place is for you!
Saw this cute little bakery recently and decided to stop in to give them a try.
The shop itself was decorated simple but cute.
The staff members were very helpful and friendly.
The featured drink seemed to be coffee which I am not a fan of so I tried there pastry.
I chose to try their apple cobbler which was really good.
I'll definitely return again in the future to try some of their other items
This place is awesome and quickly going to become a must go for the summer.
I yelped breakfast places on sunrise because my friend was coming to meet me from BK and I figured it would be easier to find. They have metered parking right up front 25 cents gives you 20 mins. Not bad.
The setting is rustic and cute. Like your grandmas kitchen. It was filled with women- you can tell this is going to be a mother daughter brunch favorite. They gave us a table number painted on a wooden spoon.
The menus are simple. They have breakfast favorites; egg white omelettes, French toast and egg sandwiches. I ordered an egg sandwich and the thick cut bacon which was AMAZING. If you eat bacon please order this!
I really enjoyed the macchiato I ordered it came in a cute tiny expresso to go cup. When I ordered it the girl advised me it was small and not like Starbucks. That was appreciated. I can't imagine how many people order it with bigger expectations. The little cup packed a delicious punch for sure! Behind the desk is a chalk board filled with the coffee options and what they look like. Cute.
We sat outside. It's on sunrise highway so the trucks going by are loud but it was comfortable and the tables are wooden with umbrellas.
A younger gentleman served us outside. He was very nice. Over all a cool experience and I can't wait to be back!
My friend recommended this spot. So today I was near by and decided to stop in. He told me their BLT was great.
So I ordered this BLT which cost $12 with avocado that cost $2 more. Then I asked for an iced coffee with dulce de leche flavoring, almond milk and a little sugar.
I was given a wooden spoon with a number on it and found a spot to sit and wait for my grub. Within about 2minutes this girl brings me a hot coffee. I had to ask another server to exchange it. While waiting on my drink I got my food. It wasn't too bad. However, they put way too much butter on my bread and it was hard. It was like eating a piece of cardboard with a lot of butter. Just tasted greasy. For my $2 I received about 1/4 of an avocado on my sandwich…if that. My bill came to about $19 for a BLT and a drink. WOW…The sandwich was certainly no where near what they were charging. My iced coffee though tasted pretty good.
Other guests seemed to enjoy what they ordered. Perhaps this BLT my buddy enjoyed is just not for me. So, next time I'll bring my girl here and order something else and hopefully be able to give this place a better rating.
I really wanted to love this place, but i just can't get with the hyped reviews.
Came here on a Saturday around lunch time and it was moderately busy, but we got a table and looked over the menu. Went up to order at the counter, and the girl taking our order was fantastic- very nice, patient with my parents, and just overall cheery in describing their options.
The food was alright. I wish the menu had more versatility rather than the cafe selection. Mom and I each had a salad, and my dad had the turkey burger. All the food was fine, fresh, and sized pretty well, but it just wasn't anything I'll be left craving or raving about.
We shared a piece of chocolate crumb cake and it was pretty dry, rather than the cake part being light and moist. The crumb cake at Front Street Bakery blows this one out of the water, but that's my opinion.
Overall, I don't think I'll venture back, but it would be good for them to add some more hot dishes to the menu. Maybe some all day pancakes, or an artisan grilled cheese since they bake their own bread. There's definitely some improving that can be done! Wishing them the best of luck!
I went to Flour Shoppe Cafe for some takeout food yesterday using a Groupon certificate. This is a converted bakery with some tables. The restaurant is clean but somewhat cramped. The menu had some really interesting items however it may have been too niche oriented for my taste. I ordered a turkey burger and a white omelet to takeout. Both were quite good despite being non traditional in design. The servers were great accommodating and very friendly. The price to value ratio is about average for this kind of restaurant. All in all this was a very good experience and I look forward to returning in the near future.
I really enjoyed this place. Went relatively early on a Sunday and there was no issue with finding a table for four (somewhat small place, so I can see how it might get busier). The decor was great – whisk hanging lights and cheese grate lights.
The coffee is Stumptown, so you can't really go wrong there. It's cute and very helpful how they display on a chalkboard how the coffee drinks are made up. Not many places think to do this (I'm looking at you, Starbucks!!!!). For breakfast I had the croque madame and oh my goodness it was delightful. The right amount of cheese and meat and egg and yes, deliciousness. Can't wait to be back and try some more.
It's a seat yourself, pay at the counter before you get your meal artisan bake Shoppe. I love it already!
I chose to sit at the counter. They have tables inside and outside on the sidewalk. Any choice is a great choice. I chose inside because right across the street the Motor Carrier Police had all these trucks pulled in. I'm OFF work! I don't wanna be reminded of them! UGGHH! LOL
I ordered the Bacon Jam and Egg Tartine with a side of Thick Cut Peppered Bacon. Yeah I feel ya drooling already. Ok this Tartine is made of One piece of thick crusty bread spread with Bacon Jam(which I didn't taste much of). Then topped with Asparagus & Tomatoes that must've been roasted because they were deliciously sweet. Covered with a soft fried egg & a drizzle of Mornay Sauce…….. Take a moment to gather yourself. LOL. The combination of all of those fresh ingredients was amazingly delicious. Get it!
The bacon surprisingly was candied. Thick, crunchy, meaty & sweet. The perfect accompaniment to the Tartine. A cup of thick foamy cappuccino to round out this awesome meal.
They hit 5 stars on everything! The staff was wonderful & attentive. All the girls were extremely friendly & willing to help in any way. Such a pleasure. BTW I overheard someone say they were featured in Newsday today. Check it out!
Great meal Flour Shoppe!
