  1. After enduring numerous rejections within a two consecutive day span from one who I desired very much to my good friend who canceled our gathering on a Saturday night, a fellow Mandarin classmate allowed me to tag along for the rest of the day.  Fong Da Bakery is nothing compared to major Chinese bakery chains as Fay Da and Tai Pan in respect to quality of buns, customer service, cleaniness, and lack thereof seating area.  A table of bags filled with buns for $1.00 lays baking in direct sunlight of the great outdoors in the warm months, which appears it has been lying there for an eternity.  When inquiring the genre of buns' inner content the staff appears disgruntled, yet very disturbed as it appears my Mandarin classmate/friend and I were intruding their precious peace.

This Chinese bakery actually carry business cards which I was surprised for many do not carry.

  2. I would say it's more 2 and half stars but given the prices – I'll round up.

I've only tried the bread here which is decent – it's always been soft and never stale which is good. The flavor though is lacking compared to other bakeries in the heart of chinatown. The coconut cream bun was bland and the cream lacked any flavor.
The sweet coconut pan bread though was really good – filling was sweet and just the right amount – the bread was doughy/soft/chewy.

I believe after 6pm they discount their bread on an outside table – you can get bags of 2-3 breads or 1 large pan bread for $1! That's cheap for even chinatown standards.
