Soooo much food!!
This event occurs every third Sunday of the month in Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza until it gets colder (stops October?).
Several food trucks participate
– I've tried the "milk trucks" cheesy goodness (grilled cheese on the go! with spicy pickles?!)
– Kimchi taco's korean inspired tacos (not that great actually from an actual Korean's viewpoint but very popular and that little bit of meat is ok)
– The slushie: raspberry in citrus is awesome actually
– The cookie ice cream thing from CoolHaus (a totally pretentious truck that overwhelms the idea of an ice cream cookie with their explanation of what they offer on the side of the truck. Read it sometime… The mint ice cream is off the chain
– The waffle of course from the good ole Waffles and Dinges truck. A winner every time.
Can't wait to go again…while I can.
go early. great food choices. it gets way to crowded with park slope families but overall a great time.
I'm going to remove from the equation that I'm not entirely sold on this food truck craze just yet but I wanted to check out the neighborhood happenings. There's a nice variety of food from the 10-15 trucks that were there (didn't really count). I tried an adobo taco from Mexico Blvd ($3 + $0.50 for avocado) and it was delish. Only wish it was bigger. Then I decided to keep the taco theme going and tried a spicy seared pork taco from Kimchi Taco ($3). It was even smaller!! Why were my tacos shrinking? Someone please explain this unfortunate phenomenon. But anyway, taco was good but I would've preferred less kimchi and more pork. If you love food trucks, are hungry, and in the area on Sundays from 11am-5pm (I think?), come and take your pick. Lines get long but they move pretty quickly so don't let them scare you. And as always with these guys, come ready to spend because $10 maaaay get you something that'll satisfy your hunger but chances are it won't.
I go to the library. A lot. Maybe too often.
I randomly decided to walk the mile or two over to the Grand Army Plaza one day over the summer. The pleasures when its hot and sticky outside in the middle of the summer comes with the benefits of running into this shindig. Or when they have the open market place with fresh produce. But the Food Truck Rally stays put here every First and Third Sunday of the month. You can find anything from Morris Grilled Cheese, Kimchi Tacos, Rickshaw, Redhook Lobster, Crif Dogs, Wafels & Dinges, CoolHaus, Eddies Pizza. Just to name a few of the huge selection. I think it alternates between the weekends as well with trucks.
The only picture I have is of a gelato I retrieved from the heat. This is long overdue. Because now it is freezing. But I would definitely and have definitely eaten ice cream outside in sub-zero weather with great glee. I happened to get Andy's Italian Ice and in a cappachino chip flavor. I also remember being pissed that the library wasn't open yet and had not had my morning coffee and this was an instant gratification while waiting the 30 minutes for it to open.
**Oh, and it only lasts from April 7th-October 20th! So, sorry kids. Stop by next spring.
I really enjoyed coming out to brooklyn's food truck rally at grand army terminal and getting to enjoy the variety of options here. We got the kimchi tacos with pork belly and short ribs, it hit the spot, the pickled veggies cut into the fatty meat so well. The kimchi tacos are a little messy to eat though so make sure you bring some wet wipes. We ordered a big order of home made kimchi which was great but the portion was actually too much, so then we got a cheesesteak and put the kimchi on that. Also I got a mocha at the juice truck and that was great too. Great food, great variety, good space to hang out at on a nice day.
Some people spend their Sunday's by going to a spiritual place that brings them inner peace. For me I like heading to Brooklyn's Food Truck Rally. It brings peace to my stomach and mind.
Located at the North entrance of Prospect Park, next to Grand Army Plaza, Food Truck Rally happens every other Sunday during the warm months of the year. To ensure its going down when you want to head over, check online. Going when nothing is there would be a bummer, but I'm sure there would be a hot dog stand there.
They got some serious food truck action. Red Hook Lobster offers some slamming lobster and shrimp rolls. For those who don't mind a hot sandwich on a hot day, check out Carl's cheese steaks. In the mood for something small, you can nibble of some empanadas or how about some fried cheese bites. There's a food truck for all. Those looking to stuff their faces, to those who just was something small. Things for vicious carnivores, things for peaceful vegans. There's plenty to have.
Come discover my place of worship and holiness. And maybe even spend a great day in the park afterwards.
