I had the oxtail rasta pasta. It's good but not as good as my sister said it was. The oxtail was a little over cooked but I love oxtail so I let it slide. I can't decide if whether the rasta pasta was too creamy or not properly creamed with the right cheese. I didn't have any mixed drinks. The food gets a 3/5 starts.
THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. 20-30 minute wait for a table on a Monday night, mainly because they have a bar filled with drunk people with no behavior. The waiters and waitress talk and laugh with most of these people when they're suppose to be bringing customers food and drinks. There was a 10 minute wait for water, 10 minute wait for wine, 30 minute wait food the food, 15 minute wait for ketchup and 20 minute wait for the check. It's ridiculous. I will never return here unless things change and there's new management. 0/5 stars for the service.
This Footprints Restaurant at this location is small and "cozy" at times. The wait staff are sometimes scattering about quickly and it takes time before I and my guests receive service. However, there have been several instances where I ordered food and received it promptly. The food always tastes good and my favorite dish is the catfish fingers with a side of macaroni pie. My mom and I absolutely love their Pina Coladas and they provide a great selection of th other drinks as they have a whole long and diverse drink menu! I have come here with friends and we have enjoyed the "comedy night" as well as "karaoke night". The dj plays some great songs and the place has a cool vibe.
I've been dining at footprints for forever. I'll give it to you straight…
1. This place is consistent as shit! Food is always delicious and drinks are always strong.
2. Take out service sucks. Pray that they'll answer the phone and take your order opposed to answering the phone and putting you on hold for 36 minutes.
3. Very small space. You may feel like you're eating on top of strangers but it becomes easier after dining here for the 5th time.
4. Good service. I've never had a bad bartender/waiter here at footprints. They're always attentive, fast, and polite.
5.Prices are reasonable. The portions are huge so please don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach.
They use to take forever for everything. Like 10 minutes to bring water, 7 minutes to bring silverware, 42 minutes to bring the bill. Luckily, service has been getting much better and they're much quicker. Four stars because I'm a regular here and for the past 2 years I haven't left disappointed.
5 stars for takeout. They promised me 30 minutes and it was ready for me exactly at that time. I still stand firm about not dining in. Crowded and no one has customer service skills.
Good service and good food.
The rasta pasta is great but I'm not sure that it lives up to the hype. You can definitely recreate it at home. The jerk chicken and roti were both good as well, but low on the seasoned side. Took home an order of oxtails that were moist and slathered in lots of delicious brown gravy.
If you're in the neighborhood, definitely check it out, but there's lots of other (better) Caribbean restaurants in this city.
Oh how I love Footprints cafe.
The first time I ever had Rasta Pasta was from Footprints and I haven't looked back ever since. I've tried other places and it wasn't bad however Footprints will always take the cake.
I usually go on a weekend night like Friday and Saturday night and those nights they are PACKED. The waiting time is out the roof.
Today was a beautiful day outside and both my husband and I were off from work so we decided to take advantage of the fact that it'll be no crowd and we made a great choice. We went around 2pm and we got great service, food came on time, and there was a nice calm ambience. It was amazing.
We ordered two Rasta Pastas, a drink and a pepper shrimp appetizer.
The drinks are expensive. 8 dollars and up BUT boyyyyy there are strong hunny! And a nice size too. I'm glad I wasn't driving because I wouldn't have made it.
Yes the place is small but it is a gem. The bathrooms are in the back. Very tiny but it does the job.
DO NOT park in the McDonalds parking lot next door. They will gladly tow your car. I've seen it happen often.
I would return only during the week/during the day. Less crowded
Mixed review here. First of all, do not dine here if you have any desire to speak to the person with you. Loud music, loud TV, loud patrons. Second, eat before you go- you will wait a long time for food. Our appetizer took 25 minutes. Food was mixed. Our cod cakes were just passable. My coconut curry salmon was very good, but I had asked if it was a filet or with bones. Was told no bones. A salmon steak always has bones! While I enjoyed my dish, the curry was certainly tame, not what I expected in a Caribbean place. My friend ordered oxtails. I thought the sauce was excellent; he felt it was Chef Boyardee. But the oxtails, which should fall off the boy, were tough. And again, very mild sauce. I will not return. Too bad.
Two Words: Rasta Pasta….
Literally, hands down, the best Rasta Pasta I have ever tasted in my whole life. However, besides their food there is so many things I had about Footprints that never makes me want to step foot into one. I actually gave up on dining with them and if I really want to have my Rasta Pasta and drive 45 minutes from Long Island then I'll call for take-out. If they answer the phone on the first 5 attempts or you don't get a busy signal then consider yourself lucky.
The actual restaurant is really small. They have 3 locations in Brooklyn, I believe. I have also been to the one in Atlanta. The service pretty much sucks- I'm Jamaican so I can say that they give the most attitude when serving people lol so beware. And the wait times are absolutely ridiculous– prepare to wait to be seated, wait for your food, wait for your check, wait to do everything lol.
The Rasta Pasta is available in dozens of variations but my favorite one is the honey garlic chicken & shrimp as well as the BBQ chicken and shrimp. If you're into spicy food then I would suggest the Jerk Chicken Rasta Pasta. They sell other foods but this is all I come here for. Their drinks are pretty good too but I just hate actually dining here. I would say call in for take out about 45 minutes before you get there and save yourself the hassle & Devour your food 🙂
