There's a steak house near the bridge!
Doesn't seem so luxurious when you're approaching this from the north and you have to cross under the queensboro. Then you walk into a cozy little steakhouse that could fit no more than 40 something diners I'm sure.
The aroma in the air is meaty. The booth seats are nice. I convinced a picky eater to come eat some red meat. We ordered a tomahawk for two (porterhouse like) and some truffle fries, truffle butter on the side and the chefs signature sauce.
Unfortunately the chefs signature steak sauce was some mushroomy concoction that contrasts the usually tomato based sauces that exist at other big restaurants. We weren't a fan although I'm usually all about the fungi.
The truffle butter on the other hand…spread it on the meat…soooo goood. Dip the hard baguette like bread in it…truffle butter bread! I started dabbling in truffle butter fries because honestly those steak frites truffle were nowhere near truffle flavored enough for my liking. After dousing several fries in truffle butter I was done with both for at least a couple days.
The steak was cooked exactly to medium rare and good but needed an extra sauce to put it over the top.
Overall a pleasant experience. Make it amazing with truffle butter. But it does compensate/cover up for some things.
Excellent steakhouse experience. I was dining solo so I skipped the appetizer and salad section. I went with the Ribeye, sauteed mushrooms, and creamed spinach. The waiter did ask if that was all, which concerned me, luckily that was more than enough. The ribeye is bone in, and comes sizzling on a plate cut for you. The spinach is a large serving enough for 3 or 4 people, same for the mushrooms. It was a great NYC steakhouse experience, the menu is limited but executed very well.
