Frames Bowling Lounge
“Tucked in the back of the port authority is this great place to bowl, shoot pool, play foosball as well as other arcade games.”
“I'm not much of a beer drinker, but we had a beer tower which is perfect if you got a group of people who do drink.”
“And I like it better than Lucky Strike because it's less fussy and more convenient to get to.”

3.5 Stars: great bowling space, under-average food, and strong drinks.
—-SPACE/SERVICE:
Went to Frames for a team outing… And it was a great time! The space was great; we pretty much had a private room without paying for it (it was a Wednesday, 3 – 5). There was no one else playing around that time! There's also pool and ping pong available.
As per the service, nothing to complain. Our waiter was kind and gave great recommendations.
—-FOOD:
The food was subpar. Barely anyone touched them once they first got a taste; 6 dishes were barely finished amongst our team of about 20. The food were edible but not tasty.
We had the following:
– Chicken Fingers – the best of the worst.
– Hummus – ehh
– Guacamole – ok
—-DRINKS:
The drinks, however, were strong. I asked the bartender for something sweet but strong and she suggested the Pomegranate Margarita and Red Sangria. I had the following:
– Pomengranate Margarita – yummy!! It is pretty strong.
– Red Sangria – also deserves a yum – and also strong. I had two of these!
– Spicy Margarita – they made it spicier for me and I was pleased!
Thank you so much Frames! I had a great time… Even with my terrible bowling.
Strictly OK, but Lucky Strikes is way better. The prices are a complete rip-off, especially if you come at night with 3 or fewer people. $55 for 1 hour of lane, plus $7 shoe charge for both, plus some other gratuitous charge. Day prices are MUCH more reasonable, and you can play for single games. It felt like buying from Comcast or Time Warner Cable and not really knowing what I was being charged for exactly.
The lanes are really nicely done and high-tech, though the interface to edit your name, etc., is clunky and has that good old (by which I mean bad) Atari feel. There is also a very poor distribution of balls per lane. Count on having to walk a few lanes over to find that 12 pounder when you find your own stacked with 8's. BOOO.
Food is actually very well-priced for some reason, but I'll be sticking with other bowling venues.
I came here with a group of friends this past Saturday night and had a complete blast bowling into 2am! We bought the 2-hour unlimited bowling deal and ordered 2 pitchers of drinks to share for ~$34/person. The environment was young and fun, somewhere fused between a bar topped with top 20 music and bowling lanes (definitely not your family friendly suburban bowling alley).
Drinks were solid if you like sweet, not very complex drinks. The sangria definitely tasted more like lemon juice than sangria.
There's a required/free coat check as well as an ID-check before you enter. If you don't make a reservation before hand, you might not be able to get in. Reservations are easy via the website, but just know that you have to pay beforehand.
Everything you would want in a bowling lounge. Once you enter, you will forget that you are still in Manhattan. Frames is spacious, clean and fun. Their shoe system (grab whatever size you want to try on) is much faster than lining up. The food (pizza, chicken fingers) was good too. People who work here smile so much and make you feel like they like their job, which makes you feel a little happier to play here.
I've been to Frames twice now and I've enjoyed myself both times. On both occasions I was with a large party and we had an all you can eat/drink situation which was key.
Not sure how I would feel if I came on my own with just a few others and no reservation. It gets pretty busy and it's also pricey.
So i attended a gathering at frames a good friend of mine was having.
First impressions on frames is wow this is lovely. It's the normal size of a typical bowling alley, but besides the 30 main lanes they have private room lanes (a first for me to see) and they have an area where there is just a bar (im thinking the lounge).
The prices to bowl were slightly expensive $25 a game but since we were in a large group we gave a certain amount and that covered us for 2 games on 3 lanes and the food platers, and 2 pitchers of cocktails.
The only problem we ran into was, The person who was throwing the event did not realize that the food platers were for a party of 2 and their were 15 of us, so those 2 platers we received were gone as soon as they were put down. I think it would have been nice if it was explained a little better, the ordering of the food process. But i believe next time we will have it down pact…..
I came here with some hesitation as this bowling alley is attached to port authority and I thought it had the possibility of being the sketchiest thing ever. HOWEVER, I came here and was blown away but how great it was. There was complimentary coat check on the bottom floors and the whole place looked nice and clean. My friend had set up a party here, reserving three lanes for a group of friends. Each lane came with either a beer tower or a pitcher of margarita. We got pomegranate flavor and it was delicious. We also got a side of fries which were crispy and hot. Delicious!
As for the lanes, they were clean with plenty of bowling bowls, a table and cubbies to put shoes or purses. It had everything that was needed. This place had multiple areas including a couple of bar areas with TVs playing sports and plenty of space for sitting down. The music that night was hip hop and my friends and I couldn't help but get down and dirty. When Puff Daddy calls out his bad boys for life, we just had to obey.
Overall, it was a great time. Great food, friends, bowling and drinks. I would definitely recommend it for group gatherings looking for something to do.
A great place for friends and fam to hang out and enjoy pure good times. Great for celebratory events like birthdays, promotions, graduations, etc. The guy at the door and the hostess are welcoming and friendly as are the bartenders and waiters.
We had the opportunity to enjoy the private room, which consists of two lanes, two couches, a table, a long bar table with seating, and a plant that hides a nice surprise that unfortunately we couldn't use.
Two thumbs up for this place!
