“Perfection in a coal-fired brick oven creates a charred thin crust that leaves a black ash on your fingers.”

This pizza is the best pizza in Westchester no doubt about it! I consider myself to be plain vanilla type of girl however most of their toppings are just great. The bacon is incredible, the onions and peppers delicious, their plain cheese lightly baked is impeccable! I've had the New Haven and Fairfield Frank Pepes and maybe New Havens tastes a little better other than that they all have the same decadence. I'm very happy to live so close for the convenience of picking up since they do not deliver.
The service is not great there. I've done the whole sit down and eat here thing it was blah. As of picking up; The kids working the front are just kids. They just want to get you in and out the doors. I mean my sole purpose is getting good fresh pizza so I don't care about the lack of service. The pizza gets a 4 star not the service in this case.
After visiting this particular location over 10 times over the past 2 years, I feel like the pizza just isn't that good. There is no question that the pizza doesn't even come close to the original but the original mozzarella and the margarita we ordered today just weren't good. The pies were pretty thick and fairly tasteless. Service is great but it ends there. The soda was even watered down which was strange. Unfortunately I don't know if we will be coming back.
One of the best pizzas I've ever had in New York. Seasonal pies, fresh ingredients, great interior decor, this place is great all around. I can't wait to order pizza here during Football season. Family said this place's delivery isn't as good as eating in at Frank Pepes.
Clams clams clams clams. Clams clams clams clams. Clams wonderful clams! I dream of the clam pie from Frank Pepe's… And if you are a lover of clams, so shall you! Imperfectly shaped (your pie will not be round and it will be sliced in crazy uneven manner – it's just they way they do it), thin crust, coal fired, neapolitan style pizza (by way of New Haven)… Beautiful. Yeah sure there's nothing like the original in New Haven, but if you ain't in New Haven this will surely make you happy! The tomato cheese pie is also outstanding (for those haters of clams… how could you .. Lolz). But for me it's all about the CLAMS, the CLAMS, the CLAMS, the CLAMS… Be careful of shells, they shuck fresh clams to make the awesome clam sauce (olive oil, lots of garlic, parsley, white wine?), occasionally you may come across a small piece of shell.. 😉
There is something so American and family oriented about Pepes. But this is not a diner or friendlys, it is world class pizza. I have tried all there set pizza and most toppings and everything is so fresh and delicious with the semi-tough thin crusted dough. One tip, is that the pie with gorgonzola is extremely flavorful and cheese forward so don't get it if you are not about strong cheeses. Other thing I would recommend is getting just the pizza with the sauce and add veggies or meet. You can really appreciate their sauce and toppings (especially the roasted red peppers) that way. Lastly, this has become some what of a chain but they are all amazing with the original one clearly one step up.
Friendly people. The pizza is very delicious. I highly recommend the white clams and pepperoni pizza. There original cheese pizza is just as good as the other pizza. The Yonkers location is very convenient. Hope they open up more around westchester or NY.
I have been here a couple of times with the family and the best part of course is the thin crust pizza from a brick oven. The crust is really thin and crunchy and that is my favorite thing about this place. The taste of the pizza is average though it is not a wow factor for me if they could spice it up with different flavor a that would be great but it is an ok place in my opinion
I've been here many times now and I have yet to have a bad experience. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
I'm about half and half as far as takeout and eating inside the restaurant. For takeout, I preheat my oven and throw a pie in for a couple of minutes. This makes the crust a little crispier and, in my opinion, slightly better. The pizza is great in the restaurant also, but I prefer takeout just for the added crispiness.
My favorite thing about their pizza is the sauce. It has a really fresh tomato flavor, and I've yet to come across anyone who has a similar sauce. I've tried the white clam, the margherita, the spinich, mushroom and gorgonzola, the original with mushroom, and just a plain old original with mozzarella. The clam is pretty decent, but in my opinion there are some places in the city that do a better job with the clam. However, hands down, the plain original with mozzarella is my favorite plain pizza, these guys nail it and that's where the 5 star review comes from.
If I had a good week and I want to reward myself, my ideal meal from here is a large original with mozzarella, a pitcher of Peroni and some fresh grated parmesan mix cheese.
