We came in to get out of the harsh winter outside, nearly getting blown into oncoming traffic by the menacing wind. It had a nice brunch atmosphere. Crazy long wait for tables, but we snagged a couple of spots at the bar against the window immediately.
Wild mushroom toast – Absolutely amazing. Mushrooms were sautéed and seasoned perfectly. Topped with buratta cheese that was salty and creamy. Hint of truffle oil.
Friedmans burger – solid, but nothing special. We requested medium rare, and it was cooked exactly to request, pink inside and brown outside. My friend said she liked it a lot. The fries were delicious – rosemary seasoned, nice and salty, came with a ketchup that was tasty.
We didn't get drinks, but they looked really good.
Would definitely come back.
Not bad for what it is – there are few brunch places in this area by Hudson Yards. I was drawn to this place by the Yelp reviews and we sat down after about 20 minutes around noon on a Saturday. The host was nice and allowed us to sit in a booth, even though it was plated for 4 people instead of 2. I ordered the fried chicken with waffles and it came with a spicy honey, which was really interesting, but I wasn't blown away by it as it carried a tag of $22. I would definitely order something else next time if I am in the area.
Friedman's was great. I went on a Friday night around 8p or so, and it wasn't too crowded. We ordered burgers, which were fantastic. I got a beef burger rare with cheddar cheese, and it came with a side of fries, which were quite good. I think they were probably cut in-house, and definitely very fresh. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because three times during our meal, someone brought drinks to our table that we didn't order, only to look confused when we told them that we hadn't ordered any drinks. Slightly bizarre that this would've happened so many times, but it's not a deal breaker. Would still go back if I wanted a good burger in midtown west. Recommend !
Great for brunch. Good bloody mary, and a special with avocado and other yummy stuff.
We capped of a friday all-nighter of partying with an early brunch. I love going to get noms before all the basic betches wake up so i can have my choice of booth, table or bar seat.
Settling in at the bar, the bartender, hella chill guy, mentioned the specials, and we were like, lets do it. Strawberry pancakes – which were thick and fluffy as fuck. And not too sugary. It was cake. She had it with a mimosa, which was surprisingly big and strong. Not a watered down drink in a flute.
And i had the crab cake benny. I was digging it, altho katie, whos from maryland, took one bite and immediately threw a furitive look. The expert does not approve. I had it with a bloody, which was really healing. Mmmmmm.
And we had fun just laughing, bantering, recapping the night. Every now and then teasing the bartender, who was genuine in humoring us.
Friedmans on 10th ave is reliable vibe. Like iv never waited to be seated, whereas the original one in the 30s is that basic ass 2.5 hour wait. And its really chill place, unfussy, and accessible. We left feeling really good.
Lovely brunch spot very close to the Javits Convention Center and Megabus pick-up location!
It's not the roomiest place, but I didn't have to wait too long during Saturday brunch (7/2/16). There were actually a bunch of tables available when I initially arrived (a bit after 11am). Only 2 parties were ahead of me on the wait list. Although they do not seat you until everyone in your party arrives, the staff is pretty friendly and accommodating.
In particular, the host was very personable and helpful. The staff allowed me to get a cup of coffee at the bar while I waited, and it was easy for me to get a high seat at the window when I realized my other party would be very late.
Food-wise, the pulled pork benedict was outstanding. The pork was very tender and generous in amount. The eggs were perfectly done, and the spinach and cornbread added a nice touch. The side salad that came with the dish was very fresh. The pricing was also reasonable.
Overall, definitely adding this to my list of regular spots in the city!
Great brunch spot that is in the middle of nowhere, but since I had an event at the Javitz Center nearby, it was very convenient to meet some friends for breakfast ahead of time.
I ordered the avocado toast that came with 2 eggs and a salad. It was very hearty and delicious and too large for me to finish.
I don't quite remember what my friends ordered, but they loved their dishes too.
If this weren't so far on the west side, I would be back in a heartbeat! I'll just have to wait until my next event at the Javitz Center to enjoy my avocado toast again!
Came here for Saturday brunch after wanting to come here for a long time and reading the reviews.
We got lucky and got seated within 5 mins. Due to popular reviews we tried the chicken and waffles and was in a salad-ey mood so I got the Cobb salad.
I was expecting a lot from the chicken and waffles but was quite underwhelmed. I particularly didn't like the honeyish syrup. I feel like it's also hard to eat waffles and chicken with a bone inside.
Also being a southern-ish brunch place, they didn't have biscuits!
The service on the other hand was really good.
