  1. Frijole Mexican Grill seems to be a new takeout joint in Queens. Maybe a couple of weeks old. I wish Frijole Mexican Grill a long and prosperous life. Now the reality, you need to capture the opportunity of your location. This is not a new operation working out the kinks. Frijole Mexican Grill seems to be a franchise operation. So, the menu and standards are set in stone.

Frijole Mexican Grill is as Americanize Mexican takeout  restaurant in an area that has some of the most authentic Mexican food in all NYC. I ordered their steak tacos, which come three to an order for $5. The tacos consisted of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cheese and steak. Flavors where lacking. The steak taco was overpowered by the cheese and veggies. The meat was some fried top round beef which was slice to order with no spice; no flavor. Bland taco except for cheese flavor.

While i like to support businesses in Queens, Frijole Mexican Grill falls way short of the quality and flavors of the delicious restaurants and food trucks on Roosevelt Ave. This takeout joint is competing with delicious food only a mile away and the variety of different styles of tacos.

Their is potential. Huge potential, but the generic flavors of a national chain does not cut it for this taco lover. It seems the flavor profile is geared towards a Midwest person who does not like "sazon".

I really wish you well Frijole Mexican Grill, but I was a disappointed taco lover today.

  2. I agree with Kitty's review. I ordered through seamless a total of 3 times and the first 2 times were consistent, quick delivery from Woodside to Astoria (15-25 mins), and quite tasty/flavorful. Today I was craving nachos so I decided to order from my go-to spot and it was a disaster!

I placed the order at 2:23 pm and my order was not received till 2:49pm– the updated seamless browser gave me an initial estimate of a range between 3:14-3:24pm. I called the restaurant, a gentleman picked up, and said seamless was down/that my food was on its way (without asking for my info and just assumed). He also commented that my food would be not soggy and fresh.

I finally got my food at close to 3:30-4pm and realised that the cheese was congealed and the presentation for the food was just messy. Typically on the steak nachos there would be plentiful amounts of beef throughout however I got probably 6 longular strips. The guacamole and nachos were bland and just disgusting–barely edible. Never again.
