Maybe I've been accustomed to going to NYC places without NYC prices. It was $6.50 for a small iced coffee with a shot of expresso…yikes. Per the owner's comment on my review, it looks like I was charged incorrectly. $1.50 isn't going to make or break me, but as an out of towner, there's nothing that can be done to fix this.
In any case, the coffee was strong, did the trick and hit the spot. The service was friendly and quick. There was a nice array of sweeteners and to-go lids.
If you aren't looking to stick around for the atmosphere and coffee shop experience, it might just be worth it to hit up one of the many nearby Starbucks versus going local. If you do stick around, beware that they do not have a restroom.
What I originally thought was an overpriced coffee shop, was an error prone coffee shop. Next!
Such a great respite from the madness that is Times Square. I walked for a bit from my hotel thinking, well there is always Starbucks but then I ran into this place! It has a hipster vibe without the attitude. Wifi is free and coffee is super tasty and affordable. Love love love.
Very small little coffee shop that serves good coffee and pastries!
I ordered the cappuccino and was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the espresso — it definitely was a great late afternoon pick me up. I had the cappuccino with a raspberry scone which was good as well (filling too) but nothing out of the ordinary. My friend had the carrot walnut muffin and that was very, very good. The shop is intimate and there is a good amount of seating as well as cool art pieces on the wall. I also swayed by the amazing service of the two baristas — they were so sweet and friendly!
Overall, better than average coffee and pastries — would come back if I was in the area!
Great espresso, cozy location. Wife had latte and it was also nicely prepared and came with a great looking piece of latte art.
3.5 stars if I'm being honest, but I'll round up.
This cafe is super close to Port Authority and Times Square, but far enough from both to not have to worry about all the hustle and bustle of the NYC crowds.
It's tiny, but they have plenty of seating for what it's worth without feeling overcrowded. The artwork is really cool, and the staff is personable and quick with orders.
I ordered a latte with almond milk. It didn't taste any different than other lattes I've tried and the latte art I got definitely wasn't as Yelp-worthy as other pictures I've seen on this page (not that the latte art was a major issue). I paid $4.50 for a small plus an extra 50 cents for almond milk, which is pretty standard for a smaller cafe in the city but still a bit high for my taste.
The rest of the menu was limited. They offer fairly standard coffee drinks and limited baked good/pastry options. No bathroom either.
I'm glad I gave this place a chance after reading so many positive reviews, but I'll probably go elsewhere next time I'm looking for a cafe in the area.
Got a flat white with almond milk for less than $5–win! The menu is really standard and it doesn't have any special lattes, but the coffee is solid, as well as the staff. It is a small cafe but has decent number of seats. Because it is in a less centrally located place, it gets less crowded too–perfect! Great place to catch up with friends or get some work done. Recommend!
We had decided one of the things we really wanted to do in New York is try all the different coffee places that we could. Frisson was not on our list…but it was in our path. Thank goodness, it was. We went in two separate times during our nine-day stay for excellent cappuccinos.
We had just recently become coffee snobs before we went on our trip. (There was a secret surgery involved with incantations). So we just didn't want to settle for just any old coffee. It didn't matter if we had to trek out of our way to get the good stuff. Frisson was the good stuff. Great service. And maybe we lucked out because the place was a perfect rest stop on our walking tours.
I tried the iced coffee and scones, both of which were delicious. I would definitely want to come back when I'm craving scones!
I wished the bar on the side was wider. In theory, I would like to do work here, but the space is too cramped for working comfort. But if you're just looking for a cute neighborhood cafe to take a break at, this is great!
