  1. The portion size keeps shrinking (see photo of my chicken and baked fries)…

Come on Fuel, get it together.

  2. When the weather gets warmer and I start obsessing over carbs, Fuel Grill is my go to for a "fast" lunch. So many options and HEALTHY that actually tastes good. You can conveniently order via Eat 24 and pick it up or sit there and enjoy your lunch. The place itself is not large but there is plenty of seating.
My usual is the Mexican Fuel Plate. I add Bison meat and swap the rice for broccoli and tomatoes. I love that you can easily substitute any of their meals.
I hvn't had their smoothies or breakfast options but there are  alot to choose from.

  3. I love juice bars, hate their inflated prices. You see, juice is the new wine–the artisan, gourmet, organic, and other-marketing-buzzwords beverage du jour that promises great health, long life and all the rest of the American dream. Anyone who's anyone (who usually shops at Lululemon) can be found juicing at any time of the month because, dammit, it's, like, fruit and kale and shit. That stuff is GOOD for you!

But I digress. Fuel is actually a not-so-bad presence on this strip of 9th Ave, especially when you've got $4.50 burning a whole in your pocket and a massive need to down multivitamins in one easy installment. The Hanogver Killer hits the sour and sweet spot, while the Iron Horse will have health nuts foaming. However, in a city with endless juice bars, nothing really wowed me for the price, so I'll probably skip this unless I am massively hungover and need to stop making my head scream.

  4. I was being strongly suggested by my colleague to get the smoothie here, so decided to follow today. As a big fan of kale and almond milk, I went directly to cupuacu smoothie, amazing! I wish I had ordered a larger portion! Probably the weird green color was the only drawback…highly recommend! The chipotle salad, on the other hand, was plain and flavorless and I really hope they at least have some basic sauce on top of it besides the spicy sauce on and only on chicken. Apparently its name well explained its comparative advantage.

  5. Been here a couple times and not a huge fan, mainly because all the food items can be easily made at home. But for someone who doesn't cook, this place might as well take your money.

The juices here are good. Fairly priced I might even add. But there's a lot of delis that make juices on 9th Ave….

Super protein plate with bison, chicken, tomatoes, onions etc. Flavor was good but for $13, I expected a larger portion and maybe something .. prettier looking.

The salmon with a choice of 2 sides (sweet potato and hummus) was awful though. Salmon was thin and overcooked. Sweet potato was good. Hummus needed a lot more flavor.. it was probably one of the worst hummus I've had.

If you're into working out, count your macros, and don't cook – I think you might like this place. Otherwise, skip to the next restaurant on 9th Ave and avoid some disappointment.

  6. My friend and I ordered $40 worth of food for breakfast and waited on delivery which took over an hour and forty five minutes…

    1) protein pancakes were a bit bland but not bad! Not enough strawberries or bananas though

    2) egg white scramble- bland as well, and my friend was upset there was no ketchup.

    3) I loved my acai smoothie which was refreshing

    4) the ginger carrot juice was good too but my friend was not a fan haha

    5) the fruit cup (large) I was I different- just a bunch of cantaloupes and honeydews.

majority of the poor ratings goes to the delivery. Maybe it's not fuel's fault but waiting that long for breakfast is a nightmare.

  7. Ordered food to go from here on a week night. Though the food came very quickly–especially during peak hours, it did not really hit high marks.

I ordered the combo salad with chicken and turkey burger with avocado and lettuce. Though all of the components were there, they did not really come together in a way that highlighted their flavors. I also had a side of hummus that was alright, but wasn't particularly memorable.

Overall, if you're looking for something quick and healthy, this is your place. But if you're looking for something that packs a punch in the flavor department, you will be sorely disappointed.

  8. This is for their new location on 45th between 3rd and Lex in midtown.  Had the buffalo wrap.  Very tasty.  Interesting menu too.  There's a chain like this in NJ by me called "Muscle Maker Grill" trying to pump out the same health-themed wraps, salads and plates but I think Fuel is better!

Place was empty during lunch hour.   Why?!  I think their signage is bad — you don't see the place until you're actually just stumbling upon their storefront.  Guys — better signage may result in more sales.  I dunno, give it a shot 'cause this strip of shops on 45th has the unfortunate reputation of "here today, gone tomorrow" — places don't stick around for very long.  There are a couple of exceptions but mostly an alarming rate of turnover (rent too high?).

Hey, the weather's finally getting better so maybe have someone stand outside with samples.  Something to get business crankin'.

Will be back to try some of your other healthy lunch alternatives.  Nearby Yelpers:  Give 'em a try.

    Good luck!
