“I was impressed with the Salmon mango roll..”
“And if the excellent food isn't enough to get you to try it, the $2 Kirin and $3 House Sake should be the nail in the coffin.”

This place is run by Japanese people who really understand Japanese food. Even some of their basics such as sushi rice and miso broth from the ramen noodles are so tasty I could probably eat it for the rest of my life. I had the yellowtail chirashi and miso ramen and was extremely satisfied with both. The fish was super fresh. The miso broth had a good heartiness to it without being too salty or thick. The amount of toppings such as bamboo, seaweed and green onions were also generous, which I really appreciated.
The ambiance is really cute — the tiny restaurant is converted from an old fire station so it still retains some of the brick and big red garage doors in its decor. The umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and kanji poetry on the walls added some Japanese touches to the feel.
Pretty good Japanese food. Girlfriend and I went on a Saturday night on the early side, so there were loads of kids. We had the luck one might say to enter in while a small child was standing up and vomiting into his fathers hand. Ah the joy of parenting!
We had a shrimp tempura roll to start which was good, but cut too thickly. Then I had the ramen, which was good but lacked a kick to it. That's more my taste than the restaurant's fault. Girlfriend had the steak teriyaki which she dug. All and all not a bad place but nothing that blew my hair back.
I got take out from here Friday night… It was good. I like that they have an authentic japanese menu, compared to most japanese restaurants in the White Plains area. I would go back for sure, maybe even dine in rather than get take out, as the place itself is very cute inside and parking is convenient!
Maybe my expectations were too high for this place after reading reviews on here. Very small place, with a very long wait at noon on a Saturday..Everyone in the place was Asian- always a good sign. Authentic Japanese feel, quaint ambience. Very nice staff. Best thing though was the $2 Kirin…, and also the green tea ice cream. Bento boxes were a flavorless letdown (salmon teriyaki) as were the sushi rolls …and whatever you try..don't get the eel.
I just took the missus here last night even though I was just here a few days ago because that is how awesome I think this place is. Got a sushi platter this time and it was slam-bang! When you get two types of eel (fresh water- unagi and sea eel- anago) plus uni in your sushi assortment…you know the place is the real deal. And they were BIG pices…not the little things you get in the City for over twice as much price. And BTW…since every other table was filled with Asian clientele..thats another reason you know this place is damn good. Seek it out..it's worth it.
This is very authentic Japanese food in Westchester. They have ramen, sushi, and multiple different Japanese noodle dishes and soups. We tried the sashimi bowl with many types of raw fish and a few sushi rolls. The sashimi bowl was excellent. The fish quality is extremely good and there was a wide variety of fish offered. The sushi was also good but not as excellent as the sashimi bowl. The service is quick and the place inside is quaint with some Japanese decorations. I was a little disappointed in the prices and also disappointed that they charged $1 for eel sauce and $1 for ponzo sauce – I thought this was a little extreme and is mostly why I am giving it 4/5 stars. I'll definitely be back here when craving some raw fish and I'm in the area!
I was pretty skeptical before I came here. It's a challenge finding good Japanese food in Westchester, despite what other people might say.
The food is pretty awesome for a good price. I had the dinner special, which came with mackerel, sashimi, miso soup, and salad. On top of that, I had a $3 beer and $3 sake. When you hear good value, you automatically think "so-so" food. However, everything was pretty tasty!
Other reviewers said that the service was rude. I didn't really feel that at all, it was pretty standard and I never felt uncomfortable.
This place is not bad. Everything on the menu is palatable, but what really makes this place great is the discount sake! This is not a bad place, and I LOVE the cute cups they use for tea. Tanuki!!!
