  1. We went for Sunday brunch at 12:30 and it was a ghost town. We ordered three different selections along with unlimited mimosas for $24.99 pp. The mimosa were WEAK. We thought maybe the 'champagne' was flat but by the second round with a new bottle we quickly realized it was really cheap champagne. No wonder there was no buzz after 6-8 glasses. The food was okay but GB you could do a lot better adding more flavor to your food. This is Bushwick, break out the Sazon. Also, maybe a live jazz band would add some character to this spot and increase the traffic flow. Nothing like Sunday brunch and jazz. Its a recipe that works well at other brunch spots that are packed with patrons and they want exception food too.

This venue has a lot of potential. Here are some tips: 1. MUSIC: Musicians or Jazz band playing a mid afternoon session 2. Encourage local artist display their works of  ART to adorn your walls of the Gallery Bar 3. Expand your menu options 4. Turn off the TV over the BAR unless a huge sporting event is taking place. 5. Offer higher quality liquor for your UL mimosa/screw drivers and ONE hour is a short time span when other venues offer two for the same price.

  2. Gallery Bar is one of those places where you really get a bang for your buck. Not only do they offer an unlimited brunch add on for an additional $15, the portion sizes with the entrees I found to be very generous.

What I like- After trying several different brunch entrees I can say the food here is decent. From the omelettes to the pancakes to the French toast, everything I've tried was tasty and reasonably priced. The place is rarely ever crowded and I'm not certain why as its in a high traffic part of Brooklyn. They do have patio seating however during the end of summer 2015 you could not drink outside due to licensing issues. Hopefully summer 2016 will have changed that.

What I dislike- Though they always keep the mimosas flowing, they're always super weak. I'm not sure if it was the ratio of champagne to Oj or what but after an hour and still no buzz… Somethings not right. Improve there and I'll be happy with the place.

    Good vibes here overall.

  3. I was here for the season finale of the Walking Dead. Lots of seating, amazing TV screen in the back (plus screens near the bar as well). If you are looking for a place to watch the major shows (Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc.) This is the place to do it. The entire staff is friendly and enthusiastic. Plus, the people who attend are actually there for the viewing. And there was a raffle at the end too!

In terms of food and drinks, I had the spinach salad and a quesadilla. Both were tasty and I'll definitely be going back to try more off the menu. Drinks were good too, they have a good selection of stuff.

The staff were incredible, it's been a while since restaurant staff made me feel that welcome. I feel like they are still getting their bearings in some ways, but the friendliness and cheerful atmosphere makes up for it in any way. Go here!

  4. Ugh. It sucks that I'm writing this because I was rooting for this spot. I tried the brunch here and it was absolutely the worst brunch ever. It stings to even type that.

The food took forever to come out and when it did, it was not worth the wait. I had the Tex Mex Eggs and it had NO flavor, none at all. I doused it in salt & pepper and it just wouldn't absorb the flavor. The coffee was terrible, maybe it was an old brew but it tasted like instant coffee. The potatoes were OK, a little spicy which gave it some flavor, but the whole dish was just bad. I didn't even bother finishing it and I was very tempted to go to another brunch spot directly after because I was craving huevos rancheros.

This place has been open for a while, and it doesn't seem to be doing too well, but it's situated in a great neighborhood and can get a lot of foot traffic. However, if the service and food do not get a major update, I don't see them being open for much longer. They are trying, I guess. They have "The Walking Dead" viewings, all kinds of happy hour specials & the decor is killer. But the quality of the food/drinks just isn't there.

I'm rooting for you, Gallery Bar!

  5. "A little slow"

This may be slightly biased because I was starving and on the verge of "hangry" when I arrived.

I grabbed a seat at the bar (the restaurant was pretty much empty) by a waitress who said that my waitress would be out shortly. I asked for a glass of water, which did not arrive, and 6-7 minutes later my waitress arrived. Keep in mind there was about 8 other people in the bar/restaurant. I was on the verge of leaving.

The food was edible not great but not gross; I had the tex mex omelette. The waitress' perfume was very strong so that may have affected the taste of my food. Plus, I had to track down the waitress to get my check because she was watching TV and chatting with a couple of folks. I wanted to scream "could you please do your job!!" but I refrained.

I will give this place another go because word on the street is that it shows "American Horror Story" on Wednesdays. Hopefully, there will be more attentive service and I can give a higher rating.

  6. A group of friends and I had brunch here and had a lovely time. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to our group (and all our bikes!) and they made sure to make a special vegan meal for me. I am really happy to hear they will start offering a homemade veggie burger next week. Since the menu was pretty meat and dairy heavy, they made me a special platter with stewed black beans, home fried potatoes, and sauteed veggies (cabbage, carrots, squash, and peppers). The veggies were a tad oily but it was all delicious and reasonably priced. I look forward to returning to try their new veggie burger.

  7. Absolutely positively no complaints. It's my local watering hole. I'll defend it to the the death!! Late weeknight happy hours (until 9pm). Food is 2 steps above bar food, but nothing I'd go out my way for.

  8. This is a nice and welcome addition to the neighborhood.  Huge and nice space with outdoor seating in the back.  Yes!  Art hanging inside on the exposed brick walls (in true Brooklyn form ;-)) and two full service bars…. Nice!  The food…not so nice… Not terrible but not what will keep me coming back.  The menu leaves much to be desired and the waitstaff is probably less experienced than most nyc restaurants but they are friendly and apologetic which certainly helps.  The bartender Zack is awesome. He is well versed in beer and super nice.  My husband was not happy with the corned beef… It says on the menu that it is made with brisket but tastes more like the canned version :-/.

I will still come back because they play great music, pour good drinks and the atmosphere certainly makes up for the food.  I believe in you Gallery Bar!
