Ganache Cafe

So cute!! This is pretty much the only cafe (coffee + deli sandwiches) uptown, so I'm happy to report it is a good one!
Looking for a place to grab a breakfast sandwich and some coffee, we stumbled upon this place. They have your classic egg sandwiches made to order, but also an array of other items – mostly healthier egg white options.
They also have a lot of lunch options – some which are premade and others made to order.

The iced mocha tasted more like a chocolate shake, so next time I'll have to specify how to make it I guess. The turkey melt was also a bit lackluster.
All in all, in happy to have discovered this little gem and will be back often!
Great place to set up shop and get some work done. Great coffee, awesome staff, lots of sweet treats, also great tea selection.
Ordered a cappuccino to go and got a plastic cup about a quarter full and ALL foam. Essentially I was drinking espresso, which actually was very good quality. However, the noob staff should be more careful. The staff is kind, the place is okay. But it had more of speedy Starbucks feel to it rather than a nice "take your time and sip your coffee" kinda zen. There are better cafe gems in Hobo worth committing to.
Ganache Cafe fails in a number of categories, which is unfortunate considering it's the only far-uptown gourmet coffee option.
The space is split into 3 sections: coffee bar, dry cleaners and seating. The coffee bar area is packed with tables and walls of prepackaged items for sale, which limits the space for waiting customers. The seating area, on the other hand, actually has limited seating and almost no outlets (so don't pick this spot for extended work).
As for the coffee, I actually think the prices are reasonable. That said, despite using Illy coffee, which is amongst my favorites, the coffee tastes undeniably stale. Either the coffee beans are stale or they're ground too far in advance. Either way, they're not doing Illy coffee justice.
The food offers variety, but the quality is more of a diner than what's expected at a coffee shop like Ganache. My breakfast sandwich was indelible, which is tough to accomplish considering its eggs, ham and bread.
On top of all that, the staff's conversation about being hung over and nauseous made my experience at Ganache one I'll never risk repeating.
If you judge on taste and service then this place is a 4. If you factor in price it is a 3. Fact of the matter is this place is overpriced. You can walk a couple of blocks and get more bang for your buck.
Cafe Ganache is in a nice location, and has a great little work or chill area off to the side. Couches, chairs, tables, it all looks very inviting, unfortunately I'm always in a rush when I come here to grab something to go.
And that's the rub. I came back here (because the stuff they make is good!) after having not come back for a while, apparently forgetting that it takes them about 15 minutes to make a breakfast sandwich. Fortunately for me, my job doesn't complain if I'm late, and ultimately it's my responsibility to manage my morning time, but that's a bit out of the ordinary, yeah?
In addition to that, $10 for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee? Not even a fancy latte or anything, just brewed coffee and a breakfast sandwich. I'll probably come back again, because I'll forget about the wait and the price and only remember they make good food, but c'mon…
