The PERFECT NYC DELI.
Great sandwiches and the staff is SOOO nice! They take a lot of pride in their work, which really makes this place a notch above all other delis.
If you're looking for a great salad, sandwich or pasta – all with ingredients of your choosing and made to order – look no further than the recently renamed "Fresh 2 Go" (formerly Garden City Deli).
Salads (small for $6.95) – includes 1 meat, 1 cheese and 3 veggies + any one of their great dressings.
Sandwiches ($7.95) – my favorite is the Reuben. It's made to order with care – and comes with a can of soda, potato chips and a pickle. You can't beat that price anywhere in the neighborhood!
Pasta ($7.95) – pick a pasta, some toppings and a sauce and you've got really good, made-to-order pasta.
They also make fresh pressed juices. This place doesn't have the luxury of seating like Lenny's next door…but the food is just as good, if not better, and a fraction of the price. If you work in the neighborhood, this place is a must!
I was in Midtown and wanted a cheap meal, so I turned to Yelp to help me decide. Reading about the salad bar brought me in, but I ended up getting a tuna melt as I have had too many salads lately. The tuna melt was ok, but not amazing. I guess I shouldn't expect too much from a deli. Came with a water and some chips for around $8 or $9.
This is my go to place to get salads for lunch. They are more reasonably priced than other places that offer salads. They always have avocado. They're clean, they accept cards, and they're friendly. The best! I wish they delivered.
I have ordered one item the past 6 times I have been here- ham, roast beef, and turkey wrap (NUMBER 11) which my review is solely on. The meat (BACON sometimes included, depends on the mood of the deli man) and vegetables (with AVOCADO) were FRESH every visit and came with a complimentary side of chips. You can ask for a hot wrap which taste INFINITELY better than the cold wrap. Can't go wrong with number 11. Delicious, filing, and cheap, $8.50. Note 5 – 10 min. wait
I work on 14th St. This place is on 43rd St.
Yet I keep coming back at least once a week, to the point I'm now buying two salads at a time and taking one home for dinner.
They're über-generous with the portions and I can buy a large salad here with five toppings for only $7.50 a salad. For the large!
They recognize me now and still find it amusing that I keep making the 30 minute trip for their salads. If you go during the day, ask for Willie and tell them guy on 14th St said he sent you.
A+, five stars, whatever you want to call it … this place is a hidden treasure.
I'M SO DISAPPOINTED. The grill guy had ONE job. My bf and I came here with high hopes after reading great reviews, and we were so excited for our breakfast sandwiches. I like mine with swiss cheese and sausage, he likes his with american cheese and bacon. I said my order about 3 times, because the grill guy kept asking to make sure he got the order correct. He repeated after me each time after I said "the Swiss cheese with the sausage, and American cheese with the bacon," and he kept nodding like he understood. There was no seating in the restaurant so we decided to take them back to my sister's apartment to eat them. I was SO PISSED when I opened up my sandwich and he MESSED UP OUR ORDERS and put the sausage with the America, and the bacon with the swiss! WTF!!!!!!!!
Also, there is a tiny piece of paper that says that breakfast sandwiches are $1 extra after 11 am, which is ridiculous.
Only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because I think the breakfast sandwiches would have tasted great had the grill guy gotten our orders correct. Iced coffee is also pretty good here.
Tried the falafel salad. The guys working were Palestinian, so definitely they should know how to make falafel. It was good but definitely would be better if it was more spicy, I think they watered down the spices for a generic American audience in the rather generic Times Square area. Quite good variety of things to choose from with the salad and they let me choose – spinach, artichokes, olives, feta, other stuff, the combination worked out well. The salad ingredients seemed fresh, this is a tasty and reasonable place with a lot of healthy options. No seating, to go only. I ate in the little plaza across the street, but there you gotta sit on the ground or on the edge of a planter. Very close to Port Authority Bus Terminal, a good option before catching a bus or after arrival.
